I know that you are not here right now, [He was watching the journal and knows she went to Lastlook] but I would like to tell you that Tsuna and I are no longer avoiding each other.

[Please don't say 'I told you so', Ino.]

[Giotto meanwhile is in the library, as he usually was, in an out of the way corner reading a book from the shelves. He did have about 200 years of literature to catch up on, and the library had quite a lot of it. He was currently reading a fiction book about a murder on a train with a French detective, and he was quite engrossed with it. If you approach him quietly, he may not even notice you.]

[it takes her a few hours to reply, but she sounds excited when she does]

No way! Really? How'd that happen?

The castle decided to stick us together for a day or so. I woke up to him sleeping on my floor. He panicked at first but I eventually got him to calm down and found out why he was avoiding me so earnestly in the first place.

[HAH. SHE KNEW IT'D TAKE SOME FORCED INTERACTION. but now they can just blame the castle instead of her]

So it went well, then! See, I knew you guys could work things out if you just talked about it.

That you did. To be entirely honest, I thought there was no hope after- [But she doesn't know about that.] Either way, I think he actually enjoyed spending the day with me.

After ... ?

Well, that's good. I'm glad you guys finally worked things out. Now you guys can have family bonding time and all that!

[Huh. If Jane didn't know better, she would think that man over there was reading a Poirot novel she happened to like. She can't see him too well from here though. Perhaps, if she was stealthy enough, she could get closer without looking like she was trying to spy on him about a book.

So, quite casually, she slips into a nearby seat and sticks her nose in a cookbook. She won't peer at you over its edge yet, though. There are a lot of pictures of lovely baked goods she can't make in here...]

[...Might as well tell her.] I had been talking to him anonymously over the journal since Christmas, and he figured it out two weeks ago and panicked and shut the journal on me.

As long as he wants to, which may not be a problem. [A laugh.] I think he's in awe of me.

[Giotto didn't notice her when she moved, but eventually, he glances out of the corner of his eye and sees her sitting there, reading a cookbook. He looks over the edge of her book at her, wondering if she had wanted something or just wanted some company, before going back to reading.]

[ ... lmfao, tsuna. she sighs]

Well, at least it's fine now.

See! I told you he admired you!

That was the entire problem, actually. He thought I would be disappointed in him because he didn't want to be the boss of the Vongola. [A sigh.]

[ ... ohhhhhhh]

So that's what it was. Poor kid ...

[Jane stills slightly when she feels a pair of eyes on her, but when she doesn't feel them anymore, she takes a chance and steals a glance over her book. Hm...she can't quite make out the cover, even from here. Perhaps if she carefully leans a little closer...]

...I had an idea that he was the next in line, but I didn't know he had already taken over. [He always wears gloves, so he couldn't see the ring.] And I definitely did not even dream of being disappointed with him. Not when I never wished my position on anyone.

I would be a little surprised if you were disappointed with him, honestly.

But, between you and me? I think he'd actually do a pretty damn good job, if he wanted to.

Do you? I haven't truly known him for long, but... he reminds me of myself quite a bit, when I was younger. [And now, not that Giotto would say that or even notice it.]

[He feels a shift, and then looks at her over his book again just as she leans in.] Hello.

I haven't known him all that long either, I guess -- but he really is a good person, and I think that's exactly what would make him good at it. Someone who just wants that kind of position for power and money will never be as good as someone who just wants to protect the people they care about.

Exactly. I created the Vongola just to defend the people. It wasn't for my personal gain or anything such as that. It may have become that now, but that is not its spirit. [He's considering this now. Maybe Tsuna would make a good boss, with a little guidance. He couldn't take it back or release him from his responsibilities, but he could help him.]

[Jane nearly jumps in her seat! She was trying to be sneaky about this-]

[Hey, wait a second...this guy-]

[HE LOOKS A LOT LIKE TSUNA WOW]

Holy cow!!

...ah? [That voice sounds familiar... Oh, he remembered her. They had talked about family.] Jane, yes?

[She responds more out of surprise than anything, though she thinks she might remember the voice...] Yes!! Yes, that's me. And you are...Mr. Giotto??

[HOW DOES HE LOOK LIKE TSUNA???]

Yes, I am. Pleased to finally meet you in person. [He watches her and how she is looking at him. He's seen that look before.]

Let me guess, you know Tsuna?

Most of the time, these things are created with good intention.

[and then they usually go to shit, but ...]

It's just too bad that Tsuna doesn't see how good he'd be if he tried.
