When the world is in decline, the longer it goes without being regenerated the more people suffer. Crops fail, there's droughts, there's natural disasters, more monsters and Desians run rampant. And Desians are worse monsters than the regular ones. They shatter the governments, raid villages, take people away to their human ranches to be worked to death or simply kill people as they please. Humans are nothing but cattle to them.
And the longer it goes on? The worst it gets. They even say the world could be destroyed if it goes too long without a successful journey. And it's true, a world in decline is a world with depleting mana levels and well- without mana life can't survive.
Imagine living like that. Imagine constantly fearing for your friends because of Desians or monsters or natural disasters. Imagine never having enough food because crops won't grow. And imagine knowing there could be no world if the Chosen doesn't do their duty.
And all that suffering and pain could end- no more Desians, no more starvation, no more living in fear. And it's all just at the cost of one life that was born and raised for that purpose.
Can you honestly say you wouldn't be the slightest bit tempted to let that one life go?
