[with Ino and Allen gone on their trip to Lastlook, Gale's feeling vaguely lost about what to do with his time. today finds him sitting at the kitchen table of Casa de Guts, with a blank sheet of paper spread out in front of him and his open journal off to the side]

Has anyone here ever built anything outside the castle grounds? I mean ... building-wise. I'm thinking we need some renovations here at the house, and ... I'm trying to figure out where to start. We're a little low on space, and I kinda want to fix that.

[he taps his pencil against the page in thought, then takes a sip of the coffee that's cooling at his elbow] I mean - I've built some things before, back home in Panem, but ... they weren't anything fit for people to actually live in. I could get some books on how to do it, cut the trees, saw the boards myself. I'm not against working for what I want to do. But if there's a fair, quicker way to do it, it might be a little better.

[with that, he'll just start sketching ideas - a crude plan of the house as it stands now, first, and then little concepts for add-ons or changes to the current space.

off to one side there's a doodle of a crooked-on-purpose little building that he labels "CAT SHED".]

I believe that some have built a few things. The onsen and the outdoor stage are two examples that come to mind, though I think they were constructed some years ago now.

And the people in the town are ... they creep me out.

I haven't tried, though it certainly sounds possible. And while it's been a while since I raised something that large from scratch, it's entirely possible, though you might want to do the wiring yourself.

Fair enough. Did you split the logs into boards first, or no? Did you do anything for insulation?

Yeah, I cooked a few, they're pretty good smoked. Just watch for the bones, the ones for the wing structure make them a little tricky to fillet.
