¤ 41 - Loss

[this time, he doesn't get violently angry. And maybe he should have, for this horrible feeling in his chest. He wants to get mad, throw things around and set pieces of the castle on fire to let it know just how much he hates it.

But, he can't bring himself to. Whatever anger he has just buckles inward when he realizes that he's given up on some things.

He's never going home, and he knows it. He's never going to see the people that are important to him ever again. They aren't deceased, but they might as well be--forever whole worlds apart.

So... he takes a little basket of things out to a quiet spot on the castle grounds, and sets up beneath one of the trees. A certain beloved teapot, little folded up notes that have never been given, and a pair of leather-and-fur mittens--all collected around a couple sticks of incense.

After settling down in front of the little makeshift shrine, wrapped up in the fire-colors of the setting sun, he lights the incense with a pinch of his fingers... and just stays there.]

[caught between the gnawing stagnation that living in his place brings, and the weird tension of a murder having occurred recently, Zuko seriously needs something to take his mind off of things.

He needs a hobby.

So, he's heading out to the stables, hoping that the mongoose dragon is still there... and that it won't maul him once he finds it]

[but then, as he enters the stables and his eyes adjust to the light... he's met with something even more intimidating than a mongoose dragon. There's a small crash as he staggers back a few paces]

--Why is there a polar bear dog in the stables??

Now just give him a little nudge with your feet...

[in some hallway, there is a firebender, a little dark-haired toddler... and a miserable-looking husky wearing a makeshift saddle. And a makeshift set of reins, which the little girl is obediently hanging onto. She bounces in the saddle a little, but the dog doesn't budge]

[and Natsuki walks in, a bag of take out in one hand and drinks in the other. And stops.]

What the hell are you doing to my dog?

Uh... [then, as Zuko shoots a glance over his shoulder, the little girl giggles and kicks her feet into the dog's sides! ...But the poor thing just... flops over onto the floor and despairs]

¤ 38 - Musician

[his voice is a little somber as he addresses the journal, but it's still far from the dour tone he usually has. He sounds simply thoughtful.]

You know what really surprises me? There are all these people here from all kinds of different worlds, so many talents, a whole big music room right at our disposal... and there aren't more bands here.

Especially in a place like this, where it can get kind of depressing sometimes, music can really brighten people's moods, you know? I learned a long time ago that even on something like a warship in the middle of the cold ocean, people getting together to play music can make it seem a little more like you're back home. Just for a little bit.

[and so, he settles down where he's at in the music room with his tsungi horn, and begins to play. It isn't exactly a cheery tune, but it is music, and it is Zuko playing it. ...There is definitely something still wrong with him.]

Control of fire comes from within, so... you must master your breath, the energy inside yourself, before you can control flame. So, let's try a breathing exercise. A slow breath in like this--[the appropriate pause here]--aaand, breathe out...

Chaaaaarrr...

That's good!

[there is some firebending training going on in the park. Though, one of the firebenders can't actually firebend right now, and the other one is a chubby orange lizard. So there's that.]

Okay, let's go through the routine I was showing you yesterday.

Char char!! [and, with that, the lizard excitedly flails around in its own version of what looks vaguely kung-fu... throwing erratic bits of flame around, and accidentally slapping a nearby bush with its fiery tail... which kind of catches the shrub on fire]

Hey, stop! Don't-- ...Uh-oh.

((ooc: Zuko is still on his dumb happyface loss. Open for the small fire in the park, or just watching a kid try to teach firebending moves to a pokemon))

¤ 36 - A Good Day

[Zuko woke up feeling different, today. He woke up feeling... good!

Rolling out of bed, he just couldn't help being drawn to the light streaming in through the window. Really, he forgets how picturesque this place can be, sometimes. Not today, though... today, he's going to make sure he enjoys and appreciates every minute! So, after spending some time breathing in the wonderful spring air on the balcony, he heads downstairs, pulling out his journal while he's on his way]

Wow, the weather really is beautiful outside today, isn't it? I'm so glad that it's finally spring.

...You know, I think I'm going to train outside today. Does anyone want to join me?

[but first-- breakfast! Wandering into the kitchen, he puts some water to boil on the stove. And, he makes sure to make it a very full kettle! If anyone happens to stop by, he will of course share some of his ~~pretty awful~~ tea with them. He's feeling generous today!]

[he'd been holed up in his room, but with the way these things seem to be spreading, and how no one knows how to fight them... he decides to brave the halls and go hunting. On high alert, he's making his way along, listening to information filter over the journal as he goes]

Do we know anything yet? Where are these things even coming from? Are we sure it's not just--

[and then a tiny sound catches his ear behind him and he whirls! The journal catches the expected sounds of flame and tumbles to the ground. Over the frantic sounds of firebender vs. space lobster--] They're so fast!

[free for all lobster fight in the hallway!]

[he had already been on his way back to his room when midnight hits, so finding himself suddenly teleported the rest of the way is a little annoying. Then, finding the whole place decked out in the castle's favorite brand of obnoxious heart motif is pretty annoying.

...But, realizing that his bed, decorations, and objects from home have all been changed to match the hideous decor--that is downright infuriating. His uncle's teapot is pink, there is a heart instead of iconic flame on the banner on the wall, and his bed... is that lace??]

--What happened to my room?!

[he hasn't even noticed the fact that he also has a guest, yet]
