026 - The Sounds of Traffic and Ocean Surf [Backdated to this morning]

[Chell's in a new place. And as usual when she's in a new place, she's exploring.

She'd slipped down to the lobby and picked up a travel brochure. And now, ensconced in a comfy armchair, she's reading it. But she's come upon a problem. Everything sounds so completely amazing. Everything sounds like something she'd want to do. So, picking up her journal, she pens a message.]

I picked up a book about this place, but everything sounds so good and so fun. So, I've decided just to explore and see what I can see. Would anyone like to go with me?

[He hasn't answered you're journal message, but you might see Blues walking through the lobby and heading toward the door. Hotels are lame and he doesn't need to stay in one at all.]

[silentrunning]

[Oh yup. Sure enough, he's been spotted. She's still not quite sure how he feels about her after the Event Horizon mess, but she follows him. Heck. He might have a good idea of something to do, and it's a a lot better than just screwing around here. But all she says aloud is]

[It wasn't so much that he didn't like Chell, not that he'd ever say that he did or didn't, he's complicated like that. It was that she got caught in the crossfire of his own issues. He had some time to cool down from that though, when approached he simply turned his head to get a look at her.]

Hey.

[silentrunning]

[Well, that was much better reception than she'd expected. Then again, they'd both had time to cool down.]

Where're you headed?

[whistles_the_blues]

[He's had enough beating himself up for now. He doesn't get why she'd want to hang out with him, but he's not one to question it either.]

We'll have to see, no real destination in mind.

[silentrunning]

Me either. Mind if I tag along?

[She grins.]

This is the first time I've been in a place like this.

[whistles_the_blues]

Do what you want, I wont stop you.

[That's about as close to a yes as you'll get.]

Hm. It's been a long time since the last time.

[silentrunning]

[Good! Because she took it as a yes and is calmly strolling along behind him, sketching stuff into the corner. The first time she sees a car, she just stares.]

What... is that thing?

[whistles_the_blues]

...A car, a vehicle people use it for transportation.

[Okay that was strange, she didn't exactly look like she was from a time before cars came around.]

[silentrunning]

[She nods.]

How do they keep from going at a high enough velocity to cause... wait nevermind... That's not enough of a velocity to cause problems, unless they hit one another.

[And portals don't exist here, Chell.]

[whistles_the_blues]

...I imagine that's what the breaks are for?

[What even are you talking about Chell?]

[silentrunning]

Oh thank goodness. I was worried they didn't have a way to stop.

[Terminal velocity. :P]

I was worried because I worried they were going fast enough to hit terminal velocity... but then, there are no portals here...

...Hrm. How would portals effect how fast they were going?
