[Sometimes, Pitch goes and hangs around the stables. He likes horses, kind of-- back at home he'd usually made his nightmare sand creatures look like horses, so it's more that he likes the form than anything else. Especially since... well. The mortal horses in Paradisa are a far cry from his nightmares. Most of them are freaked out by him, for one thing.
So the stables are where he is now, and he's just kind of hanging out. He's actually trying to acclimate the horses to his presence, in the hope that he'll eventually be able to adopt one of the ownerless ones for use as a mount. Not that he's that confident that it'll work, of course; fear of the Boogeyman isn't an easy thing to get over, and he likes it that way. Really, he's just hoping that one will, despite its fear, come to tolerate him enough to let him ride it. It wouldn't be as cool and convenient as riding shadow horses, but he'll take what he can get.
And so, he addresses the journal.]
How many of the horses in the Castle's stables are claimed? They're all interesting to me, but I'm no thief.

[ But she doesn't pursue the topic; instead, she starts pacing. ]
Have you checked the library? Seen if there are local animals you can ride?

... That's not a bad idea, actually. I just might try it.

I'm not talking the normal way. I'm talking like whole shelves--possibly floors--disappearing and being replaced by new ones.

You know, I don't think it has a set pattern. The Castle just decides to do it.
Maybe that's why you haven't noticed anything yet.

[ Then she's serious. ]
But you know, when I first arrived, I was told about a missing book, and that someone had taken it. Now I'm wondering if it had been the Castle itself that had hidden it.

Probably. In fact, I wouldn't put it past the place. After all, there are probably poisonous plants around here that it can use to "surprise" us.

Sometimes, we're sent to a whole other place and things...happen. [ She pauses. ] Then, sometimes things...happen here.
And people die.

In other words, there's no way to predict when they'll happen.
