[Just as before, today finds two new figures standing in the courtyard. They are great figures of the past for some residents. Perhaps their stories can be shared?

In the city, people are talking rather excitedly about an event to take place in the evening. They say a great fireworks display is scheduled, and they can't wait to catch a glimpse of it. It's said to be an extraordinary show.

Will you pay patronage to the elders? Will you grab a seat for the show?]

[Edgeworth arrives wheeling a most disgruntled Phoenix Wright in a wheelchair. Does Phoenix want to be in a wheelchair? Not really. Does Edgeworth give a shit? No.]

[NO Phoenix DOES NOT want to be in a wheelchair, and he's fidgeting and whining about it to make his feelings well known.]

Does this really seem at all necessary to you?

Yeah, I wanted to get up and walk to the fireworks!

You can't walk to the fireworks. They are in the sky.

[He grumbles something that sounds suspiciously like "smart-ass."]

I hope you know I feel like an invalid.

And if you were to walk into fireworks, you would be moreso.

[...but is instantly distracted by one of the bright, colorful explosions overhead. And now he's wide-eyed and smiling like a kid on Christmas morning.]

[Leans over and spots the silly expression on his face. Hm. It's actually rather amusing.]

[To Phoenix, there's very little entertainment in the world better than fireworks, so with the latest flurry of explosions he's laughing and clapping and just getting completely into the show. And, after a particularly long string of them, he lets out a loud yell of appreciation.


...he's kind of forgotten about Edgeworth and wheelchairs for the moment.]

[And an impressive display of fireworks it was indeed. But seeing Phoenix act so retarded childishly was a bit of entertainment in of itself. At that loud yell, a small snort of laughter escapes Edgeworth. He'd seen Phoenix laugh, and he'd seen him drunk, but he's never seen him quite like this. He crouches beside the wheelchair and watches along.]

[When the display has quieted for a bit, Phoenix looks over and notices Edgeworth still there with him.]

Aren't fireworks wonderful? They're so loud and full of energy, and they're probably the best distraction ever invented.

[He's talking animatedly, and yes, he's -almost- gotten too distracted to be irritated about being forced into a wheelchair for this event.]

For an attorney, you certainly make a habit out of making baseless assumptions.

To be fair, they weren't baseless assumptions. You don't strike me as the type of person who appreciates inconveniences very much... like standing outside at night in the middle of winter. And, if you want to get very specific about the basis for my assumptions, I was thinking about how really loud fireworks make the ground shake, and you don't like that.

What is standing outside in the middle of winter inconveniencing, really? I've no obligations here to attend to. I'm clothed warmly, and furthermore, I have been inside with you for the better part of the day. Not to mention that I was shut in for two, whole days. It was a nice change of pace to have been able to take a bit of stroll outside.
Airborne fireworks do not make the ground shake for those who are a great distance from the point of origin, such as ourselves. Now, if you were to have based your assumption on the fact that fireworks may sound very much like gunshots, I could possibly hand it to you there.

...hm. You've done alright proving that the foundations for my assumptions were wrong but that is irrelevant to my claim. All I said was that there was a basis behind what I was assuming. Your arguments here are moot, I'm afraid.

Hmph. I suppose your claim isn't entirely erroneous, and...yes, considering that I initially said that your assumptions are baseless, you are correct. I suppose it would be more accurate to say that the foundations upon which you make many of your assumptions tend to be shaky - and I wasn't only referring to this exchange, alone. You know as well as I do that you've made baseless assumptions in the past, particularly when grasping in court. The fact that they happened to be lucky assumptions did not change the fact that they were baseless.
