family reunion day 2; dated to 9:00 AM
[Breakfast with the family is a great way to start out the morning, right? But with a reunion this big, tables outside is the only way it's really going to work. Resort workers are standing over tables spread out with heated trays of scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, French toast, and biscuits and gravy. There are more tables with plates arranged with sliced pieces of fruit. There's another long table devoted entirely to different kinds of cereal, with gallons and gallons of milk to pour over it. And of course there are dozens of round tables set up where people can actually sit and eat with each other before really starting out their day -
There's also the grassy lawn facing the lake where those who would rather can take their plates and sit in a slightly more informal setting.
This is a chance to hang out with some of the family that isn't so closely related to you! Enjoy that.]

Poyo! [ he greets, giving him a little cheerful wave. ]
no subject
-- Yes, hello. Do you need something?
no subject
Clearly the best family.Kirby looked a bit bashful, before offering him a paper with a drawing he had made. Obviously, he had been doing his best to cater to everyone with his terrible art, so he had drawn a crude stick-figure version of Sherlock along with John. ]
Poyo...!

[He's not sure what else to do, so he leans down to take it, at least. He doesn't pay very close attention to the edges of the family more distant from him, so he's confused when extra attention gets sent seemingly his way.
What's the right thing to say here? Just a child, he's expected to say something...]
-- Thank you. [The words come out stilted, like he doesn't use them very often. (He doesn't.)] I suppose.

[ And then he points to the food. Do you want to eat together? ] Poyo?
no subject
No, that's-- fine. [God, politeness is hard.] Not hungry.
no subject
But he does want to hang out with him, he really does. So the puffball would run off momentarily... returning with his favorite ball. ]
Poyo poyo?
[
He just wants to be your friend......]no subject
Yes, what is it now?
[He's not sure how kosher it is to play fetch with a family member.]
no subject
Poyo!
no subject
What do you want me to do? Throw it?
no subject
Poyo!
no subject
He tosses it.]
no subject
[ Victory!
Kirby catches it without too much difficulty, obviously delighted that he had agreed to throw it.
And Kirby tosses the ball right back up. Hey, at least he wasn't just standing there, right? ]
no subject
Oh, well. It's keeping his hands occupied for the moment, anyway.]
no subject
The puffball caught this one, too, before throwing it back up. He is totally convinced that you are his friend now. ]
Poyo poyo!
no subject
He tosses it back more easily this time, his hands adapting to muscle memory.]
You seem pleased enough to be here.
no subject
Kirby catches it, also getting used to the actions as he throws it back.
He nods, though; he is pretty happy! It's nice to see everyone. ]
Poyo!
[ And then he would tilt his head, questioning. Did he not like it here? ] Poyo?
no subject
I can think of more pressing places for me to be.
no subject
But at that, Kirby would inquire again: ] Poyo?
[ Like where? What was more important than meeting the family? ]
no subject
I've work to do.
no subject
Poyo poyo?
