[Breakfast with the family is a great way to start out the morning, right? But with a reunion this big, tables outside is the only way it's really going to work. Resort workers are standing over tables spread out with heated trays of scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, French toast, and biscuits and gravy. There are more tables with plates arranged with sliced pieces of fruit. There's another long table devoted entirely to different kinds of cereal, with gallons and gallons of milk to pour over it. And of course there are dozens of round tables set up where people can actually sit and eat with each other before really starting out their day -

There's also the grassy lawn facing the lake where those who would rather can take their plates and sit in a slightly more informal setting.

This is a chance to hang out with some of the family that isn't so closely related to you! Enjoy that.]

[ Have you forgotten who you're married to, Sherlock? You're not escaping eating breakfast, as John is coming to join you with a plate of food he is partly expecting you to consume some of. ]

[ There's a few things, some French toast, bacon, and some apples. He's also giving Sherlock a look, you know the one that doesn't stop until you do the thing that John wants you to do. ]

Sherlock come on, just eat something.

[He SIGHS and plucks a piece of bacon off the plate.]

You're going to ruin my appetite for lunch, you realize.

[ John smiles. ]

You'll be fine.

[A hum of assent while he chews. om nom bacon.]

I expect you wouldn't let me be otherwise.

[He picks up another one absentmindedly.]

You're right, I wouldn't.

[That gets a small smile out of him, and he goes for an apple. Damn metabolism, starting up on him.]

How did you sleep? [and, as a reminder] I warned you about the noise.

Slept fine, actually. The noise wasn't too bad.

To you, maybe.

[He takes a bite, chews thoughtfully.]

Though it could've been worse, that's true. I'd say we made the right choice.

[ He take a piece of french toast. Mmm food. ]

We really did.

Can't say I'm surprised. [Alone he is a human disaster, but together they make Sound Life Choices, Usually.] And it gives my brother something new to complain about. I was starting to get sick of the same old topics.

[ They make the best Sound Life Choices, expect for the Not Sound Life Choices, those ones are just... Yeah. ]

You'd think he'd get bored of complaining about the same time over and over.

No, James delights in being repetitive. It's one of the few things he excels at.
