Cupid, Aphrodite and Hallmark

I don't know how many of you remember this, but we actually had the real Cupid in the castle for a while. When I say "Cupid", you're probably thinking of that little baby wearing diapers and having angel wings. The wings are right, but he was a full-grown man.

Most of them don't look like how you'd expect.

Anyway, I always wondered how much influence he and the other love gods had over this holiday getting so popular. Maybe they stop by at Hallmark, or they even own it or something. Whatever it is, it wouldn't surprise me.

[a pause as he considers his chocolates] Anybody brave enough to eat the chocolates we got?

I hate the cards that have so many words on them.

And the way they mass market holidays. Like they have some kind of monopoly on our images. I didn't sign any bloody contracts, I know that much.

You mean like how Cupid came to be associated with Valentine's Day?

Cupid left before I got here, I think, but I knew a Cupid back in my world, too. I can at least say that he didn't have any direct influence on Halmark.

Well Cupid is more of a race of beings than a person in my world. There are a whole bunch of them all over the world. I've only met one.

Kind of like there are a bunch of satyrs but one Pan... Makes sense, I guess.
