With the time of year being what it is, I thought I should give a bit of warning about one of our newest residents. A young woman by the name of Ashley Magnus, blonde haired and dressed, like most young ladies in my homes modern times. [He sounds so disapproving.] Any untoward advances made on her, under the influence of the castle or otherwise, should be done with caution if possible. She's a bit of a strong young lady and doesn't take kindly to people doing such things so she may react with more force than needed. [James what kind of warning is that...] She's also protective of her mother, Helen, and I don't think you need both mother and daughter being upset with you.

[And yes with that done he's just going to write in ANOTHER filter now because well, that's his good deed of the day.

I thought I would ask and see if you would like to join me for dinner or something for the holiday? [Maybe outside of the castle to avoid trouble goes unsaid.]

Can I ask how you have been recently or would you rather meet me somewhere for a while and tell me in person? [In other words how are you and would you like to chat?]

[ the first thing she can think of to say is "i'm alive, right?" but no, no she can't do that to james. so she bites those words back with a sigh. ]

I'm still here. Haven't really figured out as much of this place as I'd like. Hypothetically speaking, if I felt like leaving my room today, where would I meet you?

[ that's a yes on chatting. she needs a hug. getting here a few weeks before valentine's day? yeah she kind of hates everything at the moment. coping mechanisms? what coping mechanisms? ]

[ she's there not quite as quickly as he is, meandering into the lobby with her thumbs hooked into her belt loops. at least by now she's found clothes that are neither her mother's nor cabal and she looks as though she's taking things a little more in stride now than she was. ]

[ she's still very wary about everything at the moment, and it shows in the tenseness of her muscles, but she's doing better than her first day at least. ]

Really, James. You might discourage the making of any untoward advances at all. It is the last thing the poor girl needs. [Yes, she knows what he's trying to do. But it's more fun to try to fluster him.]

[Doesn't mean he can't well, sound so very disapproving at the idea t all though. Because stop it that's his adopted daughter ;;]

Come now, surely you exaggerate. The girl seemed a touch unnerved, but not the sort to kill over a small infraction.

[~~It's totally okay <3 I get that.~~ He well, sighs at that.]

Ashley would sooner shoot than talk, I'm not exaggerating. [And besides he's of the same opinion that yeah, totally not needed when she can stab someone right now.] Product of her life with Helen over in Old City.

Was it always so difficult for them? [It...saddens her, in a way. Elves take great care to have children only in times of peace. The thought of a friend's daughter growing up amid constant conflict is distressing.]

Nature of our work I'm afraid. Though that work also turned her into who she is, it's not terribly easy that. [And he can understand that sadness, there was a time it wasn't so difficult for their work and he can't help but selfishly wish she'd had Ashley sooner but well, that's a different road all together.] I tried to keep at least one place less hectic.

Steel forged in fire, is she? [She understands that. She would say rather the same of herself.] That explains much.

How thoughtful of you to warn people. I shall take that into due consideration. [In other words: Having badass lady troubles, James?]

[Yes, yes he is bro.] She's a bit of a handful, even for her mother let alone myself. And I'm not taking responsibility if someone angers her and finds themselves out of a window for their efforts.

Well, we can't have that happening. [Though it might be amusing the first time.] Not everyone here can fly.

Though I intend to stay out of the for the majority of Valentine's Day. [It's far too risky. He remembers what happened at Christmastime.]
