This is probably gonna sound like a weird question, but I'm still pretty new here. So a lot of this doesn't make any sense to me.

How exactly can you break a book? Especially a magical book? Seems kinda weird that it isn't working the way it should. Anyone think to check for batteries?

The magic is probably disrupted in some way. Our journals appear to be fine, it's the magical enchantments on them that are having problems. The magic in the castle appears to be chaotic at times.

But what disrupted it?

Depends. Could be someone in the castle who has magic, or maybe another being who can use magic somewhere else in the world, or maybe there's something wrong with the source of magic the castle draws from.

I know mine don't, but this book is special. I figured if it was broken, it might've been because it was low on batteries or something.

So it is low on batteries! Or what counts for batteries in a magical world.

Sure, I guess that's entirely possible. I mean, the magic has to come from somewhere. If the castle does draw from one particular source of magic, supply the castle has it exhaust its resources.

I think it's more the spell has broken.

...If spell is the right word. I don't really know how all this magic stuff works.

So until it recharges or whatever, the journals stay broken. I guess that kinda makes sense.

Anyway, I'm sure it'll pass like everything else does.

Though I don't know how long it'll take people to realise the filters aren't working. I've heard enough innermost feelings to run the plot of a small soap opera by now.

Sounds about right. I'm sure having all of these beings from different universes doesn't help. It's like introducing a foreign species to a new ecosystem. There are almost always problems whenever it happens.

But I thought the castle brought us here on purpose.

Just because something is done on purpose, that doesn't mean there won't be any unintended consequences.

Like the castle is hurting itself by having us here?

I'm not sure about itself, but I'd say us being here could be throwing off the rest of the world. Although it's only a theory because I don't know that much about the rest of the world here. [Yet.]

Oh, you mean like the village. I haven't been down there yet. It's too cold to drive down on my scooter.

Yeah, I didn't think shows like that were really necessary in a place like this. Enough real crazy stuff goes on.

Seriously. If you want gripping stories or people acting like idiots, just open the magic book and bam. It's right there.

Makes me wonder what's in all those books in the library.

Uh... I got here about two months ago. But it's cold outside. Why would you walk in the cold?

Because if I let the cold stop me from going places back home, I'd never get anything done during the winter. Have the castle generate you some winter clothing and you'll be good.
