Since I got here, there've been a lot of new holidays to learn about. I thought Easter was neat: going around finding hidden eggs and eating chocolate. And now this "Thanksgiving" thing I've heard about. So you eat a giant bird and be thankful for things?

I looked up what a turkey was in the library. They look really weird. Why eat them and not roast beast?

Hi, everyone! So I was invited to go live in the town, and I think that'd be pretty fun. I'm going to leave some stuff in my room just in case. The castle's weird and it likes to surprise people, so I want to be prepared in case of that.

And did you know it'll be almost a year since I arrived? Time really goes by fast, huh?

Back home, I had a pet rock. But here there are living animals. Me and another boy tried to get a pet when we were in the dinosaur world, but they were too fast. In this last world, kids had really cool pets like rats and owls. So I was thinking it was about time I had one!

I've been taking really good care of the truffula tree. I bet I could take care of an animal!

[Ted is sitting outside with various spellbooks open and spread out around him. Now and then he lifts his wand and tries out a spell. Every time he gets it right, his face lights up. If the dragon is around he doesn't seem to mind]

This is the most incredible thing we've done yet! I got to pet a hippogriff and now I'm reading about magical plants. Some of them sound really scary, like Devil's Snare. And that Whomping Willow on the grounds is incredible.

Oh! Oh! And did you guys know there's a car in the forest? I saw it! There wasn't anybody driving it.

My House is in the Quidditch finals. Quidditch is awesome! We should keep playing it when we get back to Paradisa.

I've never done so much traveling before in my entire life! I guess people who've lived here a while are used to it, but it's still all new to me. And it's really exciting! I wish there was a way I could tell my mom and Grammy about it.

Scary, terrible things happen and then there's a big party. But I noticed that there's not much singing at these parties. That's really weird... People sing all the time back home. I went into town and there wasn't much singing there, either. Just a lot of explosions.

Is it only on the first of April that everyone sings?

There's a botanical building right here in the city. According to what I found, there are over two thousand different plants in there! The best part is that it's free!! You can go in and look at the plants and you don't have to pay money.

[this is literally the most incredible thing he's ever heard of in his entire life. His mind is completely blown]

I want to go! The guide says that it's going to be open today in a few minutes.

That was a really fun race! We should do something like that again!

Oh, and did you guys know that Santa Claus is here?! The actual Santa, not that guy who tried to steal Christmas. I saw him in the race!!

I don't really understand how the castle works. It does really horrible stuff sometimes, but other times it's kind of nice. And then there are times when it's really fun! So... I guess I'm a little confused.

Are we supposed to want to stay or are we supposed to want to leave? I have something really important to do back home but I don't mind being here for a while.

Hey, Grandpa! Is it true that you went up into space? Like... where the stars are and everything? How come you get to do all the fun stuff? All I got to do was get stuck in a movie theater...

Oh! Oh, guess what, Grandpa? It's spring now! That means we can plant the seed!

It was my birthday last week, but since everyone was stuck in that weirdo retirement home I don't mind celebrating late. Send all gifts to room 1510, care of Ted Wiggins.

I could use some new tires for my uniscooter so I can drive around on ice.

This is probably gonna sound like a weird question, but I'm still pretty new here. So a lot of this doesn't make any sense to me.

How exactly can you break a book? Especially a magical book? Seems kinda weird that it isn't working the way it should. Anyone think to check for batteries?

[because clearly something here has to run on batteries]

I'm still kinda new around here, so sorry for asking about this, but... This whole "loss" thing. Some of them are only temporary, right? And then people go back to normal?

How long do you have to wait for that?

Okay, so what I'm getting from all that is you shouldn't go near mirrors. I never knew mirrors could be so dangerous. Except if you had a zit on your face-- now that's frightening!

Hey, I think your weather is broken. It's still really cold here.

And where did all those polar bears and penguins go? Does anyone know?

[one minute Ted is standing in front of a crowd, the next he is standing in the middle of snow. Which is a very odd and sudden relocation. Thankfully there are no penguins or polar bears close by, because that would really be traumatizing]

Huh? How did I get all the way up to the ski slopes? Where is everybody? Grammy?

[and why is it so cold all of a sudden? Did breaking down the wall do this? Ted shivers] Brrr, it's freezing!

[There's a faint rustling noise, and then the typical sound someone makes when they just woke up to find themselves somewhere that isn't where they went to sleep.]

Guh-!

[Another short silence, and then -]

...Mom?

...

O-kay... Ha ha, alright, real funny, whoever put me in a weird room while I was asleep can totally come out now!
