[The sunshine of yesterday has given way to dark, grey clouds, and it’s sort of hard to tell if that’s rain or snow coming down, but since there’s no blanket of white, we’ll assume it’s slush. It makes arthritic bones ache all the same. There’s no way you’ll be getting outside today, which is a shame. Hope you enjoyed the good weather while it lasted.

Now, what could dear old Holly Peaks have in store for you this Saturday?]

CRAFT ROOM

[If it was at all possible, today the tables in the Craft Room are laden with even more things, not just threadbare art supplies but honest to goodness books to read and instruments to play and board games to chuck at your cheating opponent. Hell, somebody’s gotta have a deck of cards here somewhere, too. It's probably to make up for the miserable weather you can see outside.

As usual, Nurse Jessie watches you all like a hawk…behind her crappy magazines of course. She probably wishes you were all asleep.]

[ Frodo is in the corner of the room seated on a hobbit-sized table with handwritten pages about him, looking much the same as he did in his adulthood. Even so, careful eyes would notice how tired he seems, appearing almost transparent with a faint glow about him. But that may just be a trick of the light.

His brow is lined with concentration as he writes each word onto the paper with care. It looks like a story. ]

[Church is quieter today. He's just sitting quietly and watching the storm. Feeling almost as broody as the weather.]

[The best thing to do on rainy days is read. So that is exactly what Dairine plans to do. Sitting in her favorite chair, a large selection of books are stacked up in front of her.

But not just any books. Comic books.

That's right. Superhero comics. Mutant superheroes to be specific.]

CAFETERIA

[Today the chalkboard boasts MALCOLM’S SURPRISE STEW with a side of GREEN JELLO. If you happen to look in on dear Nurse Malcolm, you’ll see him chopping up things that…could be in a stew? Theoretically? Don’t chat with him for too long or he might really throw something in there that doesn’t belong. Just take the tea and blueberry muffins with your pills and leave him be. It’s safer that way. Really.

There are some staffers putting up cheesy decorations, too! But for what? Unless you’ve spotten the corny “Senior Prom” posters that seem to have replaced the Outdoors Day ones overnight, you should probably ask.]

[Spike is seated at a table by himself, in a chair facing the window, watching what he imagines to be rain. He's abnormally quiet today, not even whining about the ridiculous decaf coffee they serve here and how hard it is to get a cigarette. Usually when he's quiet, it means he's plotting something. -- Or maybe he's fallen asleep in his chair. It's hard to say.]

[Nurse Risette, still wearing the uniform she hopes to inspire the rest of the female staff to adopt again, is helping with the decorations today! There's no way she can stay away from an event like a prom... even with the name pun and cheesy decorations.

To her credit, Rise is trying to class up the decorations as much as possible. But it's easier said than done with what the staff has been provided with.

She'll be all over the cafeteria for a while, trying to do what she can to spice up this particular event. If there's staff willing to help, residents with questions, or just anyone ready to point out the impracticality of wearing a short skirt on a stepladder, feel free to pester her! Nurse Risette is here to serve!]

[Jane is NOT happy today. Why? Because a certain nurse has tried to pass off the little rocks on her plate as blueberry muffins. Why if she could still make out a cookbook she would show him a thing or two!

Her pills have gone untouched as she focuses entirely on trying to cut these confection imposters with a plastic knife. It's not going well.]

[Once again Church is going to be refusing to take his meds. Except for the arthritis pill. The rest he's going to quietly try to ditch in a potted plant.]

Anyone else worried about what the surprise is going to be?

[Eww, green jello again. Aradia's got to figure out a better way to dispose of this stuff. Where's that therapy dog when you need him? Everybody knows barkbeasts will eat anything.

So yeah she's just... lookin' around... you can bug her if you want.]

[Sunny, still quite astounded to find herself aged approximately 80 years overnight, is quite comfortable sitting by a window in the cafeteria. She lightly blows on her cup of tea before sipping it.

Her eyes turn wistfully towards the kitchen. Oh what she wouldn't give for a chance to make everyone a REAL meal.]

[ Huh. Apparently every day is Therapy Dog Day. WELP. Snuffles is making his rounds again, a little more tired than he was yesterday. ]

NURSE'S STATION

[The Nurse’s Station is empty yet again today, ready for use! But you don’t have a lot of time to rest. There are old folks to take care of!

Which means you should definitely slack off and plot mischief in here.]

[Work? What's that? Those old folks have lived this long on their own, surely they'll survive for a few more minutes. And hey, if they don't, that's one less thing to worry about. Right?

Mukuro lounges in a chair, legs stretched out in front of him and propped on a desk, paging through a magazine. BAT BOY WILL BE THE NEXT POPE!! it screams in big letters on the front page. He seems absorbed, or maybe just extremely bored.

Feel free to interrupt him, scold him for slacking off, or ask about this riveting Pope Bat Boy story.]

[While (Dr.)Mitsuru is ever so adamant against slacking off, she can be found sleeping serenely on the couch with a fashion magazine on her chest. Tired from all the work, and the caffeine crash from all the coffee. She just lied down to get rid of a headache, but she just fell asleep instead.

She's muttering something. It seems she's having a dream.]

"Mmrn... Akihiko give me your meat"

[according to Rise's idea, Colette is minding her own business in the nurses lounge, dressed up in a lovely nurse outfit. How very mischievous, it's nice to be having fun like this. The idea is to see who can tell that Colette isn't actually a nurse-- after all her young appearance hides the fact that she's actually a resident.

... Come and talk to her? She's just reading through a random clipboard of papers that she picked up]

SENIOR PROM

[“Senior Prom”.

Ha ha ha. What a clever play on words. The cafeteria’s hasn’t looked this festive since Christmas.

It’s barely evening, and the weather’s not lifted – in fact, you can hear it thundering overhead, the booms cutting through the cheap records playing crooners and swing that your hips can’t quite move to like they used to. But the staff seems insistent that you try. After all, they wouldn’t have shoved you into your “formal” attire if they didn’t, right?

Anyone you want to dance with? A resident? A staffer?]

and don't look at him like that. jeans and a t-shirt are totally dressed up.

[And Church is standing by off to the side watching. The closest thing he could find to formal wear was some nondescript uniform thing in the bottom of a drawer.

He might as well try to have something resembling a good time while he's here. Maybe someone will spike the punch.]

[Pfft, you don't have to force Aradia to dress up! She's more than happy to gussy up a bit for a party. (Although there is no way in hell she's wearing platform heels. Loafers forever!)

[Are you seriously being pelted with leftover green jello? WHO'S BRIGHT IDEA WAS IT TO HOST A DANCE IN A CAFETERIA AND LET THE SENIORS ACCESS THE KITCHEN????]
