❄ first snow
[Despite waking up in a weird room, Jack isn't one to spend a lot of time indoors. He explores the outside of the castle instead, one hand on the journal, the other wrapped firmly around his staff. He is easy enough to see: a pale, lanky boy sliding along banisters, drawing frost ferns on the windowpanes, and even surfing down the roof on a ramp of ice.]
Pretty interesting read, I gotta say. [A cold wind ruffles the pages of the journal as he goes.] And magical too, if the transcription means anything.
Hey, magic book! Can you answer a couple questions? Like, ah, which way is home? I think I got turned around somewhere, even though that... doesn't usually happen.
Another thing. Didn't we already have Easter? [The cheer in his voice starts to fade.] Whoever wrote down the date in here is... more than a month off.
That's... weird.
[ooc: Feel free to catch him flying around like a lunatic or over the journal, just specify which!]

Can you fly?

You know what, I've never tried. But I can walk on air.

[Dairine isn't sure though. This sounds like whole a new level of bad idea. She wasn't exactly built for flight, so even if the wind picked her up, how would she maintain control?
But she's not about to lose face in front of some kid (even if he's 300 years older than her). Focusing her attention, she begins speaking in Wizard's Speech, the language that all things can hear and understand.]
"Winds. If you are listening, hear my words, for I desire your aid."

Whoa... That doesn't sound like introductory Spanish.

[With that cryptic statement, Dairine resumes her conversation, paying close attention to the wording. Using the Speech was not strictly spellwork, but it could get dangerously close.]
"Long has Paradisa held you under its strict demands. Perfectly clear weather almost all year leaves very little room for your talents, doesn't it? It must be difficult having your whims and will dictated by a castle. Never having the chance to be truly free. To blow when and where you would like to go."
[The wind picks up slightly, as though responding in kind. Yes, it was a tiresome...]
