[5] 23 Days Until Easter
[It's been a weird start of the month for Bunny. What with Holly Peaks, then getting not one, but TWO people from his home world, one of which he assumed was long gone. All in the space of a week. To make matters worse, the castle had decided to do this on the very month where Easter was held.
He could have sworn the place had done it on purpose.
As is normal for him, instead of facing any of the worry and heartache Katherine's arrival has brought him, he's thrown himself into his work. It needs to be done, anyway, and it means he doesn't have to deal with his own feelings on the matter. It's win-win, really.
And so, anyone out in the gardens today will find red tulip-like flowers sprouting everywhere, look closely enough and there's a slight glow to them. A few flowers are also blooming, revealing small white eggs on spindly legs within them. The googies, freshly brought into the world, are all heading over to where Bunnymund is sitting, pots of paint beside him as he goes through the labourous task of painting each googie, then sending them down inside the safety of his burrow. To await their big day.
Of course, to those who don't believe in the Easter Bunny, they don't see him. As he paints, his journal is open beside him, so he can listen to the casual chatter of the residents, a splatter of paint occasionally hitting the page and soaking into the paper as he works]
That whole dodgy Holly Peaks mess put me behind schedule. It's not like I can access my realm here, y'know. Everything has to be done by paw. But if it thought it could put me off, then that plan went down the gurgler.
[Another paint splatter, then a sigh. He can't keep his mind off things as much as he'd like to] Anyhow mates. Have any of you heard about Jack Frost? Mother Goose?

[ She was listening to him, but she had noticed that the little egg was still running even though it was going no where. The foundling set it back down on the grass and watched it toddle over to the other eggs. ]
But you're still keeping busy here, preparing for Easter. Even though this place is different from home it still shares a few similarities.
no subject
Well, I wouldn't be a very good Easter Bunny if I let Easter go without any egg hunts. There a still kids here, and that's good enough for me.
no subject
Speaking of egg hunts, do you need help painting? I was going to spend some time wandering around the castle grounds but if you need an extra pair of hands I can wait until tomorrow.
no subject
You know I'll never turn down a helpful pair of hands, Katherine.
no subject
[ With brush in hand, she waited for another egg to wander by before picking it up. Once its little legs stopped flailing and settled in her hand, she set to work on painting it-- her first color of choice being red. ] So... I haven't met him yet but you mentioned there was someone else here from your time. You said his name was Jack Frost, right?
no subject
That's right. He's been around for a long time, he has power over winter. A bloody showpony, if you ask me, but he's still a Guardian.
...North has a lot of hope for him.
no subject
But there was a grin tugging at the corner of her mouth. If she didn't know any better, it sounded like Bunny had someone other than North to get into arguments with. ] And if North thinks well of him then he must be a good person. He's always been a good judge of character.
no subject
That, Katherine, is always a matter of opinion. North makes friends with dangerous wild animals.
no subject
That only proves that he's very brave too! [ She doesn't idolize North of course not whatever gave you that idea? ] And not all wild animals are dangerous-- Kailash is one of my dearest friends!
no subject
There's a difference between 'brave' and 'reckless', Katherine. Jack and North fall into that second category.
She's not exactly wild, though, is she?
no subject
As long as you don't upset her. You never want to make a goose angry, especially one as big as her.
no subject
No, that's why I never plan on doing it.
no subject
With the final stroke of the brush, she held up her painted egg and studied it. The red paint was broken up by the little suns she painted all over it. While painting eggs wasn't the same as drawing pictures to go with her stories, it was still a lot of fun. ]
There, I think this one is done!
[ Satisfied, she set the egg down, waiting to let go only when it was standing steadily on its legs. ]
no subject
He nods at her creation, smiling proudly]
It's a real beaut', Katherine.
no subject
It's wonderful that you do this every year, Bunnymund. I know the other children back home always loved your eggs.
no subject
It brings the hope. And that matters a great deal. They need it.
no subject
Holding out her hand to another egg she observed it pause in front her hand before hopping onto her palm. ] No one should be without hope.
no subject
They shouldn't. And that's why I'm around. I'll make sure they'll always have hope, even when they don't even believe in it any more. [Arya springs to mind]
It's the duty he entrusted me with, after all.
no subject
How is the Man in the Moon? Has he also changed in the last couple hundred years?
no subject
I think his sense of humour has got worse.
no subject
Am... Am I allowed to ask? Did something happen?
no subject
You know. If he bothered to explain things.
no subject
no subject
Anyhow, it's all worked out for the best.
no subject
Then that's all that matters. [ Going back to painting, it would be easy to notice that the one she was working on now had the same colors similar to that of Nightlight. She was trying to think of a different topic to bring up, thinking it best to change the subject. ] You know, I never thought I would ever see a library as big or impressive as Ombric's! The one here has so many books I'm not sure where to start.
