Track 1: a new beginning

[The sound of a motorcycle engine is recorded for a while, then gradually purrs to a stop.

A voice speaks, with a distinct accent and a fairly incredulous tone:]

Riding with the wind often takes me to new places, but I hadn't intended to go quite this far out of the city. [Looking around at passing townsfolk for someone who looks likely to be helpful, but no one seems to be making eye contact.] Perhaps some pretty Fraulein will stop and help me with directions back to the city of angels? I seem to have lost my way as my mind and wheels wandered.

((ooc: Open if you're in the City Royale (he's riding a motorcycle the same color as his coat), and his open journal has showed up in his pocket to record the whole encounter.))

...As something out of a science fiction show, ja, I've heard the concept. Are you saying I've ridden the wind right into an episode of Galaxy Journey, now?

...Yes? But it... lasts more than an episode.

[He's really not sure how much of this to believe, but he'll go with it for now and hope he can latch onto something that makes sense later.]

How long does it last, then? I do have paperwork that needs filing eventually; Fraulein Detective gets terribly impatient if I delay it too long.

That's never really been set, but when you do go back home, you return to the exact time and place left. So... You don't have to worry about that paperwork, ha ha... [very, very weak laugh there]

All things considered, I don't think that's the most comforting thing I could have heard. [He looks back at the road behind him.] So if I turn around and simply return the way I came...what would happen, do you suppose?

[heliotroping]

I'm afraid not. Even if you were to keep going, you'd hit this area where almost all technology stops working, including automatic motor engines.

...I may not be an engineer, but I think I know enough about how engines work to know better than that. There simply isn't a way for that to happen, unless you're claiming the laws of physics have also ceased to apply?

...It's complicated but... the easiest way to explain it is that it's a magical area.
