[Meanwhile at the Impetus Tower...

The entire place was silent, and the hallways are empty. One could seriously hear a pin drop from doors away. But then...

BAM!

A small figure of a young woman in green bursts out of the door, flying out of the room feet first. Theme music go!]

Hwataaaa! Nice try, but you kidnapped the wrong person, whoever you are!

[She did not realize her journal was open, and following her around. So whoever had their journals open would hear a loud noise that sounds like a shotgun blast]

[and somewhere else completely right now Adachi's finding himself in the middle of a sneezing fit]

[shit shit shit. she does know. and judging by her reaction, she isn't exactly fond of him. he winces]

Hey, keep it down, okay? Do me a favor. Write my name down in the journal before you say anything else: it's Mark, Mark Hunter. That'll let us talk in private. And I'll need your name, too.

[Chie hesitates for a bit... But she can't be that angry at this guy. He may be friends with Adachi but he isn't Adachi. Plus, she's curious if Adachi did anything bad in the castle yet. She sighs and writes Mark's name on the journal]

As for my name... It's Chie Satonaka. Nice to meet you... [That last sentence wasn't very enthusiastic...]

There. Now we're the only ones that can see this. So ...

[he sighs] What he did, it probably just happened for you, right? Well ... it's been a couple years for him. He's had ... a lotta time to think.

Still, he killed two people! I'm not going to let it go that easy...

[She sighs, trying to calm herself down. She remembers what she said to Souji at the riverbank. "...if my life had been different I could have been just like him. Maybe everybody could"

That made her eye twitch a little. Maybe Paradisa is Adachi's second chance in life? Maybe this time he wouldn't be pushed to the edge that would drive him to kill again? She groaned]

Has he at least not done anything bad in the past couple of years...?

No, he hasn't. He told me, once, that he feels like this is his chance to get things right. To have the life he should have had in the first place, to do good things for people. I mean, he explained it a little more than that, but.... All that ain't mine to say.

[She doesn't even know what to think. She's a little glad that he's willing to change, but that doesn't change the fact that he took the lives of two people, and the anger she feels for those actions...

She sighs...]

I really hope he's sincere when he said that... But knowing that he's hear now, I would keep an eye on him.

[She finally found a goal in living here. Her protective instincts kicked in. She won't let anyone be harmed by this guy again]

[Mark feels a bond growing between him and Chie. He can feel her fierce determination. He feels as if he understands her a little more, now ...]

This place has turned him into a rookie cop again, a few times now. I think it's trying to ... I don't know, help or something. Like it wants him to remember why he started in the first place, so he doesn't lose it?

I know it sounds nuts, but. Honestly, the worst he really is around here is just kind of ... awkward and dorky.

Sorry if I yelled at you earlier. I just couldn't relax thinking there's a killer in this castle, and he roams about freely like anyone.

No, it's cool, I get it. This place has creepers that are a lot worse, though. I'm used to keeping an eye out for them. It's kinda funny, the adults get all "oh kids shouldn't do that shit", but I don't see them keeping up with the news once a week.

Just a couple, but ... one of 'em poisoned a woman an' kidnapped her as bait for somebody else. She's okay, but ... whoever the nutjob is, he ain't done yet.

[Chie couldn't help but clench her teeth and fist when she heard that]

Some actually did that?! That just pisses me off! We need to do something about this. We can't just let this happen!

Me too, believe me. There's people like us who try to keep assholes from getting away with shit, but we've lost a few people, recently. You really wanna help, talk to a group of guys who call 'emselves the Freelancers. They were in some kinda military force on their world, and they do a lot to protect people when the fit hits the shan around here.

I'm not in the military, so I don't know if they'll welcome me in. But I'll be on the look-out for them and do what I can! [Chie voice is full of determination when she said that. Ain't nobody messes with others in her house]
