[today one can find Dextera in the library but he's not reading this time. he's actually playing chess with himself, thanks to the castle giving him a chess set as a Christmas gift.

...it's strange. playing by himself like this didn't feel "new" like most things did. lonely, sure, but not "new".

eventually he decides to ask a little about this and writes in the journal.]

What does it mean when you feel like you've seen something before but can't remember it? I forget the word.

[ooc: open via journal or in the library. replies might be slow from me for awhile :) and if you're wondering, that chess set is the one that Dextera and Thirteen used as kids. ...not that Dextera can remember.]

Did you play here before?

No. As far as I can remember, this is my first time. [which is why he's confused.]

I heard it's kind of hard to play.

It's not hard right now, but I think that's because I'm alone.

I bet if you played against me, it'd be easy.

Why? [he doesn't think not being able to see the peices would be a problem.]

I can't see the board...and I don't know how to play, anyway.

[he taps the pencil against the journal.]

But someone could help, right? Show you how everything works and where it is.

I guess so.

Then it should be okay if you wanted to play.

Maybe I'll ask someone to help me learn.

And then we could maybe play a game. It's fun right now, but I think it could be better with two people.

Okay! It sounds like it'd be fun.
