I'm glad that's not us. [It's her way of apologizing, the closest she could get to outright admitting she missed him.]

Hey, Castle. Anyone got left over pies? I missed the whole thing. Figures I leave for a few days and that's when the cool stuff happens.

[Shit. She didn't know what else to say, but she didn't want to let it go with just that. Usually North always had the encouraging words, that little button on a conversation that let her know it was all going to be okay, or that things would work out, or whatever. She felt the weight of ts absence settle on her with a slight panic.]

[She started to write out a What then a How, crossing them out because nothing she could think up sounds right. She slams the pen down wih a frustrated grunt of a sigh and breaks the silence, fast and harried.]

I don't know what to do with this, North. I don't know what to do. It was hell living here without you and it's even worse now that you're here and not -- not -- Jesus.

[Well. That couldn't have made him feel worse. He's being the bad sibling, the one who's unsupportive and--

But damned if he can make sense of half the things that are going on.]

You're fine. I know you can handle things here. I just need a little time to deal with what I didn't know. I miss you and I'll be back soon. Promise.

I'm not fine. I haven't been fine since I got here.

[She lets out an explosive sigh and sits back from the journal for a moment.]

I'm going to hold you to that promise. [More then anything because she doesn't want to consider he might decide never to come back.]

We'll talk when I get back. I want you do more than just survive, alright? You're strong and you're capable. We just need to get some things sorted out.
