I like it when things are like this... Not the cold and snow, of course, but the peace. When we're allowed time to just go day by day living as normally as we can separated from our worlds. I wish it could be this way all the time, that we didn't have to worry that the castle would thrust us into some horrible world on a whim.

When it's like this, I find that I enjoy my life here. Is that a strange thing to say?

Earth is the most popular of the represented worlds, and even then there are several different versions of it. Yet somehow the castle still chooses familiar faces out of the thousands of possibilities.

I've often wondered if there are certain qualities the castle looks for. I've met very few residents who could be described as a perfectly average human being, after all. My apologies if I have just described you yourself.

No, no, I'm not average... And I've noticed that as well. I'll have to look throug the journals to be sure, but I think you're right.

The experience must be terribly jolting for those residents who are.

I can only imagine.... If we who are already used to the strange find it unsettling, it would be even worse for them.

Of course, it must be kept in mind that "strange" is an entirely objective description. For some, the most mundane world may seem completely foreign.

True. There was a world where everyone was a pony... That one would have been very odd to me.

I'm not sure I could survive more than a day in any such world without going mad and eating my own shoes.
