[Phoebe sighs softly as she looks out the window at the SNOW.]

Today is the first day of spring - the Equinox. Even though it doesn't feel like it. It's a day to celebrate growth and rebirth. The fact that the sun is shining for a little longer each day and warming everything up so the plants can grow again.

[She smiles, picking up her journal] It's also the day I celebrate Ostara. I think I'm going to paint a few eggs in the kitchen today if anyone would like to join me.

[Bunnymund]

I hope I'm not stepping on any toes.

[/filter]

[With that she'll head down to the kitchen. If anyone chooses to join her she'll have a nice setup of paints, dyes and crayons to color the hard boiled eggs she's prepared.

She's also lit a couple of small green candles by a vase full of flowers she bought from the florist in town. They may not be freshly picked but the thought is still there.]

you haven't? Oh then you definitely need to come help. [she laughs]

Like I would miss that. I'll be right down.

[doop dee doo, down he goes] You know, you make me feel bad sometimes. You're a lot more devoted in your beliefs than I am.

[She smiles at him when she sees him. Why hello, husband.]

It helps that I'm surrounded by it all the time back home.

[hello, beautiful. He gives her a kiss in greeting]

That would help. My family wasn't really practicing even before all the ability stuff started happening. After that, God and I had some serious issues. I think we're on slightly better terms these days.

[kungfuwitch]

[She returns that kiss with a smile.]

There's no reason why you can't practice here. Now that you're on better terms, that is.

You're right, and I did promise myself I'd make sure Abel's church stayed in use. Palm Sunday is coming up... A good day to start.

[he is casually painting a symbol on an egg]

[kungfuwitch]

That is a good day, yeah. I'll join you if you'd like.

[She peeks over to scope out what he's painting. What? She's nosy.]

[spongetastic]

I'm not sure how it'll work without a priest, but you're welcome to come.

[he turns his egg to show her. Naturally he was drawn to paint Kensei's symbol. So he's a little homesick still, so sue him]

[kungfuwitch]

[She smiles]

You don't need a religious figure to celebrate. As long as the energy and the intent is there, that is.

[Looking at that symbol]

That's an interesting symbol. What does it mean?

[spongetastic]

I'm not sure. My friend Rene gave me a necklace with that symbol on it, and I remember seeing it on Hiro's sword. I still have that necklace tucked away somewhere.

[kungfuwitch]

[She remembers how important Hiro was to him so that necklace must be special to him]

It's beautiful. No matter what it means.

[spongetastic]

We should paint a triquetra on the next one. So we'll have a pair for you and me.

[kungfuwitch]

[She smiles]

I think that's a beautiful idea. We could put them on the altar.

[spongetastic]

We're not going to hide them for kids to find?

[kungfuwitch]

[She smirks]

And we can't keep two for ourselves?

[spongetastic]

I don't know, I've never kept them before. My mom usually threw them out after Easter was over.

[kungfuwitch]

There's a first time for everything, right?

[spongetastic]

Right. [he kisses her cheek lovingly]

[It takes him a while to respond, not because he's DEEPLY INSULTED but because he kind of zones out when he's in Easter Mode. Eventually, though, he realises someone's addressing him]

Ostra already? [And his internal SWEET CRAP IT'S EASTER SOON clock ticks another day away. It's hard being a holiday spirit]

Not at all, it's not like it's Christmas or anything. You all enjoy yourselves. Give me a shout if you need more paint, I've got plenty.

It snuck up on us this year, yeah.

[She smiles. She shouldn't be surprised that he knows about Ostara but it still makes her happy.]

Would you like some help painting? Or is it one of those things that no one else could help with?

[The Easter Bunny knows EVERYTHING especially if it involves eggs]

I wouldn't say no to a little help. It's just the hiding I have to do by myself.

Would you like me to drop off any eggs we paint or do they have to be those ones that came out of the flowers?

All my googies are home-grown, I'm afraid. It's where the magic happens, in those little flowers. [Where HIS power goes] Thanks for the offer though.

Ah, okay. So the magic is in the creation of the eggs, not in the paint? Or do you have special paint, too?

I have special paint, too. It's got to be edible, after all. I grow it in flowers too.

Bunnymund

Okay. I get it. I'll go out there later and give you a hand, then. I wouldn't want to mess with the magic.

[A while later Phoebe's crossing the garden towards where she saw him last - assuming that's where he's set up his painting operation.]

[It is indeed, he's near his burrow, painting the eggs as they wander around by his feet, waiting their turn]

[She waves as she gets closer]

[Ostara? Wasn't that one of the spring holidays Mr. Bunny told her about? That gets Sugar's interest.]

You'll be painting eggs? I wanna try!

You're more than welcome to join me if you'd like. I'm down in the kitchen.

Okay! I'll be right there!

[And soon enough, a tiny little girl flies into the kitchen. She's small enough that people might not notice her right away if they don't know what they're looking for. Seeing the human woman, Sugar greets her cheerfully.]

Hello!

[kungfuwitch]

[She turns and... oh. OH! Her eyes widen and her grin brightens when she sees her]

Hello! I didn't know there were any fairies here.

[sugarwaffo]

[She beams up at her.]

There are now! I'm Sugar, an apprentice season fairy.

[brohoof]

Sounds like you should consider being a teacher, that shit sounds like it's straight out of a textbook. Anyway, what's the point in painting eggs? They're just going to get rotten in a few days anyway, then you've got a nasty smell on your hands and stinkin' up the place.

[kungfuwitch]

[She laughs] I'm not a teacher, I'm an advice columnist.

If you hard boil the eggs they last a lot longer. Some people poke small holes in them and blow out the white and yolk so they never go bad.

[brohoof]

In a lot of ways, it could be argued that the two are so similar that it's the same thing.

I still don't really get the point of it.

[kungfuwitch]

I guess you're right, there.

They're meant to be decorative. It's like... making popcorn chains during Christmastime.

[brohoof]

Oh. Well, I've never done the egg thing, but I've made popcorn chains for the hell of it. Might as well be festive even if nobody's around to celebrate it with. Back home, I mean.

But still, painting eggs seems a little childish compared to popcorn chains.

[kungfuwitch]

That depends entirely on what you paint on them, doesn't it?

[brohoof]

Touché. So what are you painting on yours, then?

Things that have deeper meaning than just a bunch of dots and squiggles [she chuckles]

Of course I could always just get more artistic with colors and patterns.

[brohoof]

I find it hard to believe that you could really paint deep things on eggs. I mean, they're eggs. It seems kind of like a waste of effort? I dunno.

Getting artistic sounds like a slightly less waste of time.

[kungfuwitch]

Is it that much different than doing chalk art on the sidewalk or a graffiti mural that's just going to be painted over? it's the meaning and intent behind it more than the permanence of the art.
