Welcome home [dictated]
[Church made it back to his room to find his old body and a large crate in the middle of the cramped space. His first reaction was to be annoyed because the shit was in the way. His second reaction was to be annoyed because this meant that Harper actually did do house calls and he fought to get his old to him for nothing. After those two reactions ran their course a niggling doubt crept into the back of his mind. Harper didn't do deliveries. He was adamant on that point.
There was something on the crate... a repair manual.
“Just do your homework. You never know the next time you'll get stuck without me. “
Fuck...
He made his way to Harper's room. Not hurrying. Hurrying would look stupid and Harper would be there. They would trade smart ass remarks, he'd poke around Harper's work area and pester him for a while and everything would be the way it was supposed to be.
Except Harper's name wasn't on the door.
Harper's name wasn't on any of the doors.
Harper was gone.
It took Church a few minutes to process it. This... this is exactly why he doesn't have friends. Stupid fucking genius, stupid goddamned fucking castle! He wasn't going to miss the fucking idiot. He'd been a total pain in the ass... always gushing about his stupid warship/AI girlfriend. Always calling him an AI when he's a motherfucking ghost.
Fuckin' asshole... ]
York... I have an update for that room list of yours.
Harper's gone.
[God damn he misses being able to get drunk already.]

Yeah, funny how Supergirl was ragging on Henshaw, and then as soon as Henshaw disappears we get nothing from Mr. Many. [Although he's not entirely sure Mr. Many is gone, but....]
It's been quiet for a while, true, but there was a time we couldn't go a couple weeks without someone or other giving shit to people. Or zombies. We have been attacked by zombies a few times.

That guy was kind of creepy. And not just because of the missing face thing either.
Zombies? Seriously... so you guys must have a pretty good zombie plan then.

Course we do! I have two different defensible outposts and enough supplies in my room to last at least three weeks.

You know, the line between sensible military planning and outright paranoia feels pretty blurry sometimes.
[he chuckles.]

[He's only half joking.]

You're welcome to crash in the guest room tonight, if you don't want to take all the stairs back.

I don't really need to sleep anymore though. Not that it wouldn't be nice if I could.
[It would just feel creepy to hang out in the guest room alone while York slept. He supposes he could talk to Delta. But he would feel odd if York didn't at least know he would be up.]

[And that's a standing invitation, which York doesn't offer to anybody. Then again, it's not like he's entirely over feeling lonely since Carolina's left.]

If this had been any other time, he probably could have expressed some appreciation. He knew it was a big deal for York to offer in the first place. But he's still smarting from finding Harper gone and so the offer only makes Church realize that if York and Delta left too...]
I... it's late. I should get going.
[Sorry York, but at least he's not saying something he'll regret later so he can make you stop thinking of him as a friend.]
no subject
All right. And thanks for dropping by, yeah?
[He knows there was an excuse, but still. He appreciates the company--and it's also a way for Church to save face without admitting he feels lonely.]
