eighteenth snare, first song
[April finds Gale walking back into Casa de Guts from a store in town, with a paper bag of nails in his hand. the sun is out, the snow is gone, his renovations are coming along, and all-in-all he's in an extremely good mood. as he takes off his vest to hang it by the door, he opens his mouth to call out a general greeting to anyone within earshot. what comes out instead? a song.]

[he moves for the fridge to grab a glass of water, then heads for the stairs, glancing at the rooms he passes, the little decorations, the ... empty booze bottles ... all the small touches they've put to the building - to their home]

Put the coffee on, and drag you in from the cold.
If you get lost, they'll show you where to go,
Even give you a ride - good people. ♪

[once he reaches the attic, he puts the glass of water down and sets the paper bag near the foot of a half-finished wall. a few nails spill out, and he scoops them up, tucking them away in his pocket]

[as he sets to his work, filling up the walls he's started with insulation, then tacking another layer of plywood to the frame to close it in. the song helps him keep his pace, and soon enough he's working at a fair clip]
