2nd elevator (Voice)

[ Gary has spent the past few days in the clinic, recovering from the wound he arrived with.

He's already pieced together parts of the puzzle...magical castle, abducts people from different worlds, magical journals that people. That part he can totally dig, magic has been one of the cornerstones of his job for the past thirty years.

There's just one part that's bugging him....what's it all for? He's a man who finds randomness uncomfortable. True back home any action could usually be put down to "because it's the gods will"  but he likes to know there's a reason behind an action and that everything can be boiled down to a system.]

Ok uh...is this thing on?

[He gives the journal a tap...he's used to talking into some of the most top of the range, high powered communication devices. You'll have to give him a moment to mentally readjust to something so...basic.]

These things aren't exactly the latest phone system or Ipad but I guess it'll do.

Alright...so this magical castle we're in.

Does it have any...you know owners or anything?

[ He asks because part of him needs to know if he's escaped The Ancient One's potential wrath.]

No ancient ones here, but have an Old One

Only if you can think of the castle itself as the owner.

Are such things often written about? [The boy's tone is vague and thoughtful.]

Perhaps. And then again perhaps such books are nothing more than the imaginings of dreamers and madmen.

[Will knew of such books of course. Once there had been many, in days long past when men lived among magic as fish swam in water. But that time was long past, and nearly all had been destroyed by the time he awoke. The Book of Gramarye alone had carried true knowledge. And once that knowledge had been within in his mind? That too had been destroyed.]

It may be different for different worlds, of course. [His tone remains blandly pleasant.] But if such books were to exist, I believe I would question what that source may be and what its intentions might be. Very few things in any world come without cost, after all. Magic and power most of all.
