Is there a limit to the number of books we're allowed to burrow from the library at a given time? I wasn't sure and I couldn't find someone to ask.

If anyone knows where there are books that are written in other languages, I'd like to talk to them, please. I found study books but not novels. I want to practice my Russian.

[ Matilda doesn't have an apron, so she just brings Lissy Doll. So the doll could watch them and for Matilda to watch over the doll. She places it on the counter together with her journal, looks around, and starts taking out ingredients, eggs and flour and sugar. ]

[Jane comes down a moment or two later, a notebook in her arms and an apron on. Se spots Matilda and hurries over.]

Well hello there! Ready to begin, I see!

Very ready! What else do we need? I found chocolate -

[She'll flip to the recipe she had in mind.] We'll need some vanilla for the other layer, baking powder, salt...you seem to have gotten everything else out already!

And we'll need things to decorate it with. Like -- the flowers you told me about, and whipped cream and maybe some colorful candies.

[ all the things she had seen in cook books and never tried for herself. She pauses, though. ]

Though I suppose that will come later.

Yes, we can wait on all that! But don't worry, I know exactly where all the decorating supplies are kept here.

Though, while we're on the subject, what kind of candies were you thinking of using?

I don't know -

[ she never had much candy at home, her brother would snag the majority of them to himself. ]

What do people usually use to decorate cakes?

Whatever they wish! M&Ms, jelly beans, cookies, chocolate chips - why, I've seen cake covered in candy bars before, too!

Maybe M&Ms! those are colorful. Do you think jelly beans would be good on a cake?
