3rd Elevator (Action/dictated)

[ Anybody going near the kitchens will come across alot of crashing, banging, and a whole lot of swearing.

God DAMNIT!! Why won't you come off?

[It started with him noticing a small blood stain on his right palm when he went to get his mid-morning coffee. Rubbing it didn't help and neither did running it under the tap. Now it's dripping down both his forearms and getting more and more on his nerves.

He's basically rummaging around the cupboards under the kitchen sinks looking for cleaning supplies.]

What the fuck are you doing to me?...oh god no!

Not here...not now!

[And now he's noticed that the blood on his left palm has cleared slightly to reveal a burn mark in the shape of the symbol of The Ancient Ones. He freaks out. It's partly because of his paranoia that they're coming for him and partly because he has no desire to reveal his secrets to anybody in Paradisa.

He gets back to scrubbing his hands...only more franticly and occasionally cursing under his breath.]

Understood. I think I can live without the formalities. [she flashes him a brief smile] Call me Emma, Gary. [if they can live without handshakes, he can live without her last name. or her real one, for that matter]

I do see a beautiful friendship on the horizon, yes

I don't mind in the least. Other people's regrets certainly aren't my personal business, not here. What I did before only applies to a very small extent, here... You could say that my duty remains, but it's been greatly diminished. [to two queens, her operative, any other countrymen, and those she deems her close friends, to be precise]

the very best way indeed

Well, it sounds like you're just starting out. Doesn't mean you can't choose another once you've seen enough of things to decide.

Some new rules, yes. [she starts to cross the kitchen to the fridge, and as she comes closer he might be able to tell her dark top is wet with something, or, if he's sharp enough, smell the blood. there's also a strange bruise across the back of her left hand, if he's looking close]

I like to think common sense and decency still enter into it to some extent, personally. But there are plenty of people here who could use someone in their corner, especially since a lot of them seem content with just living with what happens. We just had a bloody earthquake, for God's sake...

[she takes a pitcher out of the fridge and sets it down on the counter with a slight bang - someone's a little frustrated]

... I think I could count on both hands the number of people actually making an effort to help with the aftermath.
savethedarkness: (gonna sell it to you)

Protocols! Yes, that's it precisely. Even elementary schools have evacuation procedures in case of fires or other disasters. How could a place this large, with this many people living in it, not have any proper protocols?

The lack of government is understandable - I'd imagine it would be like herding cats. But safety procedures? Those shouldn't be so bloody difficult.

[she sighs and gets out a glass. she can't make herself tea, but the juice she's found seems like a decent enough alternative.]

Was he able to say it five times fast? [she arches an eyebrow, amused]

But, yes - the problem is that data. I've found some of it, and other than some very basic patterns, there's nothing useful in the way of figuring out how to circumvent or prevent these random upheavals. I'm no scientist, but I know my way around information, and almost none of what I've found or been given in the last few months makes any damn sense.

[she sips.] ... But at least the juice is fresh.

If any of it does, a few months' worth of pages later, something else is said that completely contradicts it, for the most part. The only thing that seems to hold water 'cross the board is the theory that whatever's in charge gets its energy from the things that happen to us. And even that's nonsense.
