001 [Dictated; Action]

[ The sound of rustling sheets, as if someone is frantically flipping through the journal. Kara is currently trying to figure out exactly how her journal works. It looks like a typical paper journal, right on down to its octagonal shape. But there was clearly more to it than that--it seemed to be a communication device. ]

Galactica, this is Starbuck.

[ She didn't expect it to work. Here she was, in some sort of fancypants room in some fancypants castle out of a children's book, on a planet with star constellations she couldn't recognize. Even if this book could broadcast anything she said...but she still had to try...just in case. Although it probably wouldn't to the right people toasters; but her surroundings were entirely too...foreign to be Cylon. Right? ]

Galactica, this is Starbuck. Confirm.

I blacked out. I was unable to shoot down the bogey. The storm it...[ should have destroyed her Viper. ] Look, I don't know where the hell I am, or where my Viper is, or how the frak I even got here. But I am ali--

[ She stopped right there, unable to continue. Was she alive? Could she say for sure? "I'll see you on the other side", she had said to Lee. Was this then...? ]

[Sigh. ] Well frak me...

[An unfamilliar voice, huh? Looks like the castle has secured itself another victim. He clears his throat and speaks into the journal.]

Starbuck, this is Captain John Geary. I assume Galactica is a ship?

[A pause] Either way, unfortunately, you're nowhere near it at the moment.

...Yeah. [ How has this guy never heard of the Galactica? ]

Well where the hell am I then, Captain?

That's uncertain. I'm pretty new here, myself, but from what people tell me it's a sorta pocket dimension, isolated from the others.

[A sigh. Now for the improbable bit.] It's said that the castle itself drags us here. There's no way out, no way back. At least, from what I've seen.

Well that sounds pretty frakked up. Who runs this place, Cylons?

I...uhh....as far as I know, we're still alive. I don't have a lot of information yet...but as far as I know, we're in a castle called Cair Paradisa. From what I've been told, it's not anywhere near earth...and there's some sort of "magic" involved, but I'm not sure if I believe that.

[ Oh frak, does this guy know where earth is? ]

Quite a bit...I hope. I graduated top of my class from MIT, and've spent the last 2 years in Nicaragua, working for the U.S. government. I know that the planet's blue, if what Yuri Gagarin said was true, and I know that we're currently 9 minutes to midnight, thanks to India's nuclear weapons testing.

[ What. The. Frak. The only thing Starbuck caught from that was "nuclear weapons testing". ]

Starbuck? [He's confused, worried and also happy at the same time but more so worried. Just what was she doing here?

But then wait, storm...Oh frak him.]

Starbuck, you're [Alive? Not dead? Here?] not near the fleet anymore.

Admiral Adama? [ Oh thank the gods. ]

Yeah it's me Starbuck.

And I haven't a clue, I only just got here myself not too long ago.

Sir, I have a feeling that the cylons are somehow involved in this.

[ Starbuck pauses for a moment before answering. She wasn't sure if that was a relief or not. She had been prepared to accept death. Had been, for as long as she could remember. And it had seemed important somehow to...]

Well that's a relief. Though I wish I could know how the hell I got here.

[ She could have sworn she had gone to earth... ]

No one has an answer to that. [ She'd love to know that but it probably wouldn't help knowing anyway ] We all just appear here with no knowledge of it.

Captain Thrace? [ She is worried and confused as much as the rest of you are ]

Captain, can you describe what happened? [ Even if she can get the idea from what she'd originally said Laura wants to hear it from her - fully ]

Madame President...[ Well, this was another pleasant surprise. ]

I-- [ How could she even describe what had happened? But of all people, the President could be the one to understand. ]

I had a feeling about that storm. It meant something important, and it had to do with..[ She broke off, it just seemed too crazy, saying it that way now. ]

When that bogey appeared, I knew I had to follow it. I can't say why--frak I thought I was going crazy. But I did. And eventually I saw-- [ visions, of her mother, of Leoben and... ] visions...when I came to I knew I was going to die. I can't say how, I just knew, and I knew I should. Frak, it all sounds so crazy.

And that was the last I remember until...I woke up here.

Visions. [ Everything there is understanding - she's had her own, she understands the experience (and the skepticism) ]

I understand how that feels. [ Even if she's a skeptic now about the scrolls and her roll in the prophecies she remembers just knowing, and feeling that you had to trust it, to do it ]

The Admiral's here, but not Galactica. We woke up here, and are short on answers. [ But they had plenty of theories ]
