[This entry begins with a fair amount of background noise faintly audible. To include: aliens buzzing, people yelling, fighting noises, and a very nervous giraffe hiding behind one of the speakers and fretting. Aradia starts off in her most authoritative voice:] Attention, residents of Paradisa! The Terre Haute expedition is under attack. Whatever crash-landed over here, there was something inside - or more accurately, a whole bunch of somethings. Anyway, we're under attack. Some people are trying to fight them off, but there's a lot of them. Other than that I don't know if anybody has a plan yet.

[ This is a voice you may not remember, Paradisans! He seems to know what he's talking about, though. ] We're trapped here until we can find out why they're being so aggressive, although they don't seem to want to communicate at all. [ What's new. ] I don't know if we'll be able to escape at the rate they're coming... There are a lot of them, and they don't seem intent on letting us get away. If anyone can help us identify them, please reply.

They look like... well, they're bipedal, and they've got this sort of reflective armor, and four eyes... Hang on, let me try and draw them. [she takes out her pen and begins drawing.]

Um, wait... Don't they have three claws? [ Accuracy, please! FOR SCIEEEENCE ]

Do they? I don't know, I never got that close to them. [but she scribbles out the extra fingers and continues, adding the rest of the body. and the little wingalings.]

I don't blame you... Wait, do they have antennae? [ He didn't get a close look, so he could have easily missed a pair of antennae... ]

Oh - no, I don't think so. Those are eyebrows, he didn't look angry enough.

[ Ken does not have an unkind bone in his body, so he won't say so, but he does think that the eyebrows are a bit of a stretch. ] Um, can I try?

[Aradia looks over her shoulder to see what kind of time they have, then nods and hands over the journal and pen.] Sure, be my guest.

Thanks. [ Unfortunately, although Ken is much more of a stickler for accuracy, he is a terrible artist. ]

[Yeah, she watches him draw for a minute, then kinda frowns.] That looks more like a barn owl than a hostile alien menace.

[ ... sigh. ] You're right. I don't suppose anyone got a camera to work out here in the past two years, did they?

With the Mineas Well crystals? Theoretically, but I don't have one. [looking back at the battlefield again] It'll have to do, we don't have time to go looking. Okay, uh, Paradisians - [she gets her pen back and taps on the two drawings] - in the event that we don't come back, these guys are why. I for one have no intention of dying out here, though. Please let us know if you can decipher our scribbles enough to recognize them!

Trust me, my last intention is to engage. [ He's a little more helpless than your average castle goer. ] We just wanted to warn the castle in case there was someone who knew about these creatures, and possibly to warn them in case we don't make it back.

There isn't a dire need at the moment, although we'll let you know if the situation gets worse. I'm not sure if this fight would be worth the trip here. [ you sound... enthusiastic, ma'am. ]

Ordinarily I might say go for it, but one way or another this will be over long before any reinforcements could get here. You'd probably be better off making sure the castle's secure. Just in case.

I don't know, and I can explain more when we get back to the castle. Sorry, now's kind of a bad time. [ Lots of yelling and screaming giraffes around here. ]

[Gary’s monster sense is tingling....they look like Insectoids but he couldn't be sure. They hadn't been used in years.]

Can you give us any more details on the monsters?

I didn't get very close to them, for obvious reasons, but let's see... It's hard to see it from our drawings but they look kind of top-heavy. And they can fly, and they make these weird gargle noises. Like a dying... something. I don't know how to describe it better, sorry.

I can't make an exact guess without actual on site pictures but they look kind of bug like.

If they are bugs then chances are you've disturbed the hive...that would explain why they're pissy.

Yeah, I agree with you on the bug thing. Although I think the hive was already disturbed before we got there - we weren't anywhere near it.

Alright...but either way they're not going to distinguish between a potential predator and a bystander.
