That's pretty impressive. I don't know if I could've done anything like that without being able to speak the language.

Well, luckily most of the staff spoke basic English, but it's hard to operate when they don't know scalpel from fork.

Oh, man. was it really that bad? You're lucky you got anything done.

We managed.

Well I'm glad to hear it worked out.

Most of my patients were castle residents, so it made it a wee bit easier.

[kungfuwitch]

I guess that does make it easier, yeah. [she laughs] Didn't really see much in the way of residents at my work, so I didn't even think of that.

[atadiscoverer]

I seemed to get all the difficult residents, too. You know, the ones who don't like doctors?

[kungfuwitch]

Ooooh I know what that's like. Admittedly, I used to be one of them. I've never really been a good patient... Though I've gotten better, I think.

[atadiscoverer]

As long as you let me treat you, if the instance ever comes up.

[kungfuwitch]

[She laughs]

Between you and Hesam I don't think I stand a chance if I even try to argue.

Well, you've got a Paramedic to get you here, and a doctor to treat you. What more could you want?

[kungfuwitch]

[She chuckles] Add a boyfriend to be worried and fuss over everything and an Angel in case things get too bad? I've got more help than I know what to do with.

Aye, I'd say you're safe from anything the castle throws at you.

[kungfuwitch]

I don't know about safe, but at least I'll be well taken care of if I get injured again.

So it's happened before?

[kungfuwitch]

A couple months after I got here we all ended up on Pirate ships. A few people here thought they were part of the navy and attacked us. I was shot in the leg.

I heard about the Pirate World Change.

I'm sorry to hear you got shot. I take it it's all healed now, aye?

[kungfuwitch]

Oh yes. I was healed by an angel, actually.

[atadiscoverer]

An angel, aye? Well, not many people can say that.

[If only you knew, Carson.]

[kungfuwitch]

I guess not, no. He's a good guy, kind of like the Whitelighters back home, only without the holier than thou attitude.

[atadiscoverer]

[...Wait, what?]

I thought angels were supposed to be holier than thou?

[kungfuwitch]

[She laughs] Whitelighters aren't exactly angels. I mean, they kind of are, but... it's more complicated than that. But there's a difference between typical holier than thou and the control freaks Whitelighters are.

[atadiscoverer]

Uh...

[Just a sec. Digesting...]

Aye, I think I get it... [Stressing the think.]

They've tried to control our lives for a very long time. More than any of us ever wanted them to.
