THE LEWIS AND CLARK - DAY TWO

Well, whatever the heck went down in the Event Horizon has effected you guys, too. A massive shock-wave rocks the ship, sparks fly everywhere and all power but the stasis pods and life support are taken out. The journals are still working, at least, as are a couple of torches, floating around now the gravity is off. Better get to fixing things, at least there might be a few manuals floating around to help you out]

[he carefully runs his fingers back as far as the wires go in the panel they were already working on. Once he runs out, August pulls himself to the next panel and just keeps going like that. Even a small spark is better than nothing. If there's power for that, there could be power for everything]
samson: (i think this might be a stupid idea)

[Brock just keeps pulling off the panelling ahead of August. Teamwork! Eventually, he reaches the end of the bulkhead.]

Well, we know it goes this far... I guess we'll have to do some splicing.
unvarnished: (Idle)

[personal profile] unvarnished 2013-05-09 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
If we splice these... hmm... yeah. We don't want to overload it, but this sould get us going. At least enough to restore the lights.
samson: (delicious tobacco)

[personal profile] samson 2013-05-09 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
It's a start. There's probably a failsafe to keep the life support from blowing out, so I'm not too worried about that part.
unvarnished: (Talk)

[personal profile] unvarnished 2013-05-09 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Which explains why it's still working when everything else went out in the first place. The stasis pods must be working on an alternate power source, because they're all still working, too.

[fiddle fiddle fiddle with the wires]

I bet they're on the same circuit. Like an emergency source, yeah.

[He glances around at all the tools floating about the room. Helpful.] We need like, a soldering gun or something. Or some duct tape.
unvarnished: (Study)

[personal profile] unvarnished 2013-05-09 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
I can use my jacket as a mask if you find the gun. But I can work with duct tape, too.
samson: (like ... a lot)

[personal profile] samson 2013-05-09 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Well, there's...

[A toolbox. A floating toolbox, but it's closed -- maybe there's something in there? Without finishing his thought, Brock grabs hold of the bulkhead and pushes off, launching himself toward the box.]

I'll never get used to zero gravity.
unvarnished: (Solemn)

[personal profile] unvarnished 2013-05-09 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
[August doesn't want to lose his place, so he holds on and waits. Besides, having another body floating around will not make those tools any easier to grab]

Let's hope we won't need to.
samson: (just showing the metal plate there)

[personal profile] samson 2013-05-09 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, no kidding.

[But he's reached the toolbox! Awesome. It takes a second to finagle it open, since floating listlessly in the air is kind of disorienting, but --]

Fuckin' A. [He holds up... a soldering gun. And duct tape. Things are looking up.]
unvarnished: (Serious)

[personal profile] unvarnished 2013-05-09 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
[he hates to do it, but he cuts little eyeholes into his jacket so he can cover his face while using that gun. It's a sacrifice for the greater good, beloved jacket]
samson: (making this stupid outfit look good)

[personal profile] samson 2013-05-09 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Poor jacket, your sacrifice will be remembered.

Brock can't exactly toss down the gun because... no gravity... so he grabs onto the bulkhead behind him and pushes off again. Once he's back down by the panels, he hands the gun over.]

Let's just hope this works.
unvarnished: (Front)

[personal profile] unvarnished 2013-05-09 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
[with his homemade mask in place, August can solder without burning himself. He probably looks silly, but oh well]

I have hope it will.
samson: (rough trade in a tight camisole)

[personal profile] samson 2013-05-09 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
[Brock just sort of floats nearby, waiting to see the results. It seems to work... somewhat. The lights flicker on, once, but that's all.]

Maybe the tape.
unvarnished: (Glance)

[personal profile] unvarnished 2013-05-09 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Worth a shot. [the words come out a little muffled because of the jacket-mask]
samson: (:/)

[personal profile] samson 2013-05-09 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, it's better than nothing, anyway. He leans over to get inside the panelling, wrapping the soldered wire together in a liberal amount of duct tape.

It doesn't do anything.]

Well, fuck. Maybe it was the wrong wire.
unvarnished: (Stare)

[personal profile] unvarnished 2013-05-09 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
[he pulls off the mask so he can study the wires a bit easier, thinking]

I don't give up easily. We'll keep trying until we get it right.
samson: (i think this might be a stupid idea)

[personal profile] samson 2013-05-09 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. We don't really have much of a choice.
unvarnished: credit if you take (FML)

[personal profile] unvarnished 2013-05-09 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
[having not much choice is what usually spurns August into action. So he stays quiet and works, hoping they can fix this]
