050 Spells Cast
[Phoebe's not even sure how she made it into the control room, only that she's flicking switches and turning dials and when none of that works she slams her hands down on the stupid thing, not even caring that one of the switches cut her hand open or that she's now floating to the other side of the room]
There has to be something. There has to be something we can do! We can't just leave them there! People are dying for God's sake. People are dying and we can't just sit here trying to get this piece of shit to work!
[She's practically screaming at the controls at this point. She thinks about kicking one of them but that might damage them further and then it'd be even more hopeless. Not paying attention to where she's floating she keeps going until the back of her head hits a bulkhead]
Ow! [Her uninjured hand goes to the back of her head and she winces.] None of this makes any sense. Why would it put us here and give us all this information but keep us from being able to save them?
[She looks up, more out of instinct than anything else since technically they're in space so the heavens could be anywhere.]
What is the point of all of this, huh? Are you just trying to torture us? Well it's working! Are you happy, now?! [Her shouts die down to a choked sob] Are you happy?
((OOC: Guess who just found out her husband has lost his mind? If anyone needs Phoebe she'll be crying in the control room.))

Phoebe!
[He floats towards her, forcing himself to remain calm]
Darling, you need to calm down. We're going to save Peter, one way or another. We're going to pull him back. But we can't do that if we're losing our own minds.
[He reaches for her, hoping to comfort her somehow]

I tried.. I talked to him and he's... He's not... [she stifles another sob, closing her eyes and shaking her head.] I can't do anything. I can't say anything, I can't do anything. I can't fix this. What good am I if I can't even help him? If I can't help any of them...
no subject
We can help them from here. That has to be the reason that we're on this ship, to help the others. We've got manuals floating around and people who actually seem to know what they're doing. We can't fly off the handle or lose control. Floating around and screaming at the high heavens isn't going to solve anything, however.
[His tone is determined and strong. He had promised Peter that he was going to take care of her and by whatever powers that be, he was going to do just that]

[She tenses, looking for a moment like she's going to fight him off. She wants to fight SOMETHING. Make SOMETHING pay for what's happening, no matter how useless it might be...]

She slumps, head dropping down as all the rage leaves her in a rush. Her voice is barely a whisper]
I'm sorry... I'm usually better at this... It's just... [She can't even say the words, resorting instead to just shaking her head]

The helplessness and desperation. It drives even the most steady of people to do foolish things. I know better than anyone how it feels, Phoebe.

Will you come to save us?
no subject
In a heartbeat. But we can't get the doors open. We're trying.
no subject
How? Why are your heads intact? Have you not tried pounding them against the door?
no subject
We've been fighting with the doors but if we destroy ourselves there won't be anyone left to open them.

[Oh god. Not good. Natasha and now this? Barton was by the door to the Lewis and Clark when he hears this.]
God... Where are you? Talk to me, c'mon.
[They don't need anyone else going crazy.]

The control room... For what good it's doing me.

[And he's going to pull himself up to the control room. We don't need to lose anyone else.]
Phoebe? [He's going to approach, carefully.] Phoebe, it's Clint. What happened?
no subject
Peter... It got... [Wait, he doesn't know who Peter is, does he?] It got my husband.

How? Nothing here's working and they're killing each other. How do we know we'll make it in time?

I'm sorry.

[Her voice cracks and she claps a hand over her mouth to try to choke back another sob. Just the memory of the sound of Peter's voice, so lost, so desperate, is breaking her heart.]

[Guess who is working on ship repairs in the control room right now. Dairine looks shocked at her sudden outburst, but forces herself into a calmer expression.]
I know it's hard, but you need to calm down. Breaking the controls further won't help anyone, and your hand certainly won't thank you for it.

I don't have my powers. None of this is working... [Her eyes squeeze shut.] He wouldn't listen. He was hearing me but he wouldn't listen. It was like... he was having a completely different conversation.
