17 | In Which Howl Tries to Help [Dictated/ Action]
...I don't think I'll be sleeping soundly any time soon. But that's neither here nor there.
I realize the clinic is probably very busy. [Knows, actually, he stopped by earlier] So I wanted to offer to help... I know some healing magic, and while I can't do miracles, if anyone's been putting off getting looked at, I'll be in the lobby. Just stop by.
[Because he's not going back to the clinic. That was almost worse than being on the ship. He's found himself a comfortable chair in the lobby instead, looking distracted and not at all his usual dapper self. It seemed wrong to spend time preening when someone he still though of as almost-family was dead.]

dictated;
[He doesn't know shit about 'healing magic' but there is a very very very good chance that any kind of normal, non-magic medical science won't fix his wife.]

dictated;
My knowledge doesn't extend quite that far, I'm afraid. I've never had occasion to try.
dictated;
But maybe he misunderstood what he meant. It's worth a shot, anyway. He doesn't have that many options, really.]
She's... I mean, she has all her... limbs... she just -- there's a lot of tissue damage. Like, to the bone.
dictated;
[He's feeling a little out of his depth, because damnit, he's used to a world of sunshine and puppies where even murderous witches weren't that bad]
I could help at least.
dictated;
Okay... that's better than nothing. We're in the clinic. I don't want to move her...
dictated;
[As much as he didn't want to go back there, well. This was more important than his own personal comfort, wasn't it?]
dictated;
[And if it doesn't work, he'll just have to find somebody else. There are all kind of magic guys here; somebody is bound to be able to fix this...]
dictated;
It's the least I can do.
[Considering how utterly worthless he was in the middle of the crisis, anyway]
action??
The best he can really do is to hover in the clinic, which is kind of useless, but it's the only thing he can do.]
Action!
Hello? I'm here to help.
[He's not brimming with his usual confidence, but he at least tries to look it]
no subject
Hey. Brock. [He gestures at the woman.] Molotov. Is there anything you need me to do, or...
no subject
[He turns his attention immediately to the woman]
No... if there is, I'll let you know.
[Where to even begin. He takes a breath and closes his eyes for a moment, concentrating, before he starts tracing his hands over the bandages, never touching, but getting a sense of the injuries and what he can do for them. He's not going to ask what happened. Frankly, he doesn't want to know.]
no subject
Her injuries are very deep, like Brock said; they're to the bone at some points. Muscle and flesh torn away. They're mostly clustered at her neck and thighs and arms, with bandaged scratches on her face as well. She's also missing an eye, but it's probably a very old injury.
Brock just sort of hangs back and watches, hoping this will work. That there's at least something he can do for her.]
no subject
I should be able to heal this... not completely, but enough that regular medical care should heal the rest.
[If he were better trained, he might be able to do more, but at least he'll be able to do something. He goes back to more or less the same ritual as before, although this time he's muttering to himself under his breath, a long string of strange words. It probably looks vaguely absurd from an onlooker's perspective]
no subject
Shit. Thank god.
[He's relieved, clearly. He wants to ask more questions (and also figure out what he can do to repay him), but interrupting magic guys probably isn't a very good idea. On the plus side, Brock used to live next door to a necromancer back home, so at least the muttered incantations don't weird him out too badly.]
no subject
It takes a few minutes of concentration and muttering before he steps back, finally, looking a little worn, but otherwise pleased with himself]
That's about the best I can do. The deepest wounds are still going to take some time to heal, but it should be a far less complicated recovery now. If she wakes up, standard painkillers should be sufficient.
[Although he'll leave that up to the regular clinic staff, as his actual medical knowledge doesn't extend far at all]
no subject
You're a lifesaver, guy. Like -- literally! Listen, once she's all healed up, I'm gonna take you out for drinks.
no subject
I'll look forward to that, then.
no subject
Seriously, man. I can't thank you enough. If there's anything I can do for you, just let me know.
no subject
It's really no trouble. I have the skills. It would have been negligent of me not to try and help.
no subject
[He glances back over at Molotov.] So, are there any side-effects I should look out for?
no subject
There shouldn't be, but if anything comes up, feel free to contact me.

Action
Action
Looking for help?
[He gets up from the chair where he's been sitting and walks over]
Action
Action
[He's looking the injury over, and reaches out to trace along Luke's jaw without actually touching him]
I think I can get that healing for you.
[While it wouldn't be instantaneous, it would be much speedier than letting it heal on its own, and less painful]
Action
Action
[He brings his hand up again, this time muttering a long string of strange words under his breath as he does so. It takes a few moments of concentration before he lowers his hand again]
That should do it, I think. The swelling should go down soon. It will take a bit longer to heal completely, so I'd take it easy, but in a day or so you'll be good as new.
Action
Thank you, mister.
Re: Action
You're welcome.
[Filtered to Howl]
...You know healing magic?
[Filtered to Thamuris]
Re: [Filtered to Thamuris]
I know now isn't the time, but - when this little crisis is over, would you teach me?
Re: [Filtered to Thamuris]
[If he's sounding a bit helpless, it's because it's been a bad few days]
I'd be happy to.
Re: [Filtered to Thamuris]
Thank you. Is there anything I could help with in the meantime? I couldn't do much, on the ship...
Re: [Filtered to Thamuris]
[Well, he's not, really, but he doubts Thamuris could help him answer the question of what you were supposed to do with a body when you knew the person wasn't going to stay dead, really]
I'm sure there are people around who could use assistance...
[Although it's just occurred to him he has no idea where the other wizard's talents lie]
Re: [Filtered to Thamuris]
Ah, alright. I'll see if anybody else needs help, right now.
Re: [Filtered to Thamuris]
Re: [Filtered to Thamuris]
Don't worry too much about it right now - there are more important matters. But thank you.
