Two | A Note [Written]

[An anonymous note appears in the journal. ]

While recent events may have been disheartening, we mustn't give up hope.

Courage, my friends.

[The note is simply signed with a small red flower that looks something like the floral design on this. Other than the flower there is no indication of who wrote it.]

[OOC: Sorry I've been kind of slow recently. It's nearing finals week so things are hectic. So here have a mysterious note!]

I find that it is best to remind others that the future can not be all negative.

What is a life without hope?

[One corner of her mouth tilted up. You're not bad, Flower Guy. A little weird, but all right.]

Nothing. A life without hope is no life at all.

[He smiles, just a small smile, as he writes a response.]

Precisely.
Which is why we must also do all we can to keep up that hope in others.

You remind me of someone I used to know.

He put all his anger into creating hope and fire in others, through his art. Are you the same?

He sounds like a good person.

But no, I am not an artist. An actor, perhaps.

He was. One of the best people I have ever known.

What's an actor?

I see. It is nice to have such people in your life.

An actor is someone who assumes the role of another, generally for entertainment purposes. They act like someone that they are not.
Do you not have theater in your world?

I've always thought so.

The only theater we have is real live theater - and that was the Games.

The theater in my world is quite enjoyable. It has changed my life, I suppose.

Games?

Televised battles. We ran them every year ... until now, I suppose.

I'm not quite sure I follow.

[Well, here we go again...]

They would have children fight, each other, to the death. In what we called the Arena.

That is truly terrible.

I cannot fathom why human beings do cruel acts such as that. I have witnessed senseless violence in my lifetime but to make children fight like that... There are no such words to convey the grief I feel.

[She shifts, awkwardly. It's so strange to have so many people being vocal about their horror. While back home, you had to stay silent or face an even worse fate.]

It is, isn't it? I have always been fond of polite correspondence, even with anonymous strangers. ... Are you who I think you are?
