There's an empty apartment above Caritas. I think I'm going to stay there for a while. I wouldn't be much help in the clinic, anyway.

Caritas is open, by the way... if people need it.

[ she takes her time answering this, mostly because she's been avoiding people herself. ]

Sleep and rest sound like amazing ideas to me.

[ she's asking how he's doing in a very roundabout way. in a few, she'll actually ask him. ]

[everyone who was on the Event Horizon is probably avoiding people]

My friend gave me something that he says is supposed to help.

[Phoebe wraps an arm around her husband's waist]

There are plenty of other people around who can help. They can spare you for a while.

[he pulls her close, pressing a kiss into her hair]

I know, but... I can't help wishing I could help after everything.

[kungfuwitch]

I know, sweetheart. [She gives him a bit of a sad smile. She wishes she could help people more, too. She may no longer be an empath but she can still feel the pain the castle's in and she desperately wishes she could help]

I know. But you need to heal yourself first... we both do.

I remember everything. I wanted to reach you, but I couldn't.

[kungfuwitch]

[She turns to face him fully, laying one hand on his cheek.]

I know. You tried... I know you fought it but it was just too strong.

[She fights to keep down the sorrow and pain she feels at the memories, wanting to keep as much of that from him as possible. She lightly strokes his face]

But it's over, now. It's over and gone and we're safe.

[spongetastic]

Phoebe... Let it go. [don't think he can't tell what you're doing] I want to push it all down, too. I want to be strong for you.

[kungfuwitch]

[Shit. She closes her eyes, letting her hand drop from his face. Shaking her head she starts to turn away from him]

I'm trying. I'm trying to work past all of this... it's just taking time.

[She's trying to be strong for YOU!]

Maybe we can take turns breaking down, so we don't both have to keep it up all the time.

[kungfuwitch]

[She nods, swallowing the lump already starting to form in her throat]

I think I can do that. [She'll have to. They have to find SOME way to release all of this energy] We'll get through this. I know we will.

[he nuzzles against her, running a hand down her back]

You and Adam... you two are my heroes.

[kungfuwitch]

[She leans into him, sending up yet another prayer of thanks that he's here in her arms.]

Even if I almost broke your nose to get you here?

[What? Humor helps her cope.]

[and he does laugh, kissing her forehead now]

I wouldn't trust anyone else to break my nose to save me.

[kungfuwitch]

[She lifts her head to look up at him]

And there's no way in hell I'd let anyone else do it.

[What's that they say? Never make anyone else do what you aren't able to do yourself?]

I'm not sure I could've done it if our roles were reversed. Maybe just knocked you out. [he's still trying to be playful]

[She sees what you're doing, thar. She smirks, teasing]

Oh I don't know, that's a tough one. [She moves up on tiptoe, pressing a kiss to his lips] Let's hope we never have to find out.

She can come. It's a sanctuary here.

[he cups her face in his hands, kissing her deeper]

That's not our destiny.

Yeah? Something to knock you out or make you crack jokes in your sleep?

[ it's a horrible attempt at distraction, but she's trying. ]

Maybe both. I'll ask Phoebe to keep tabs. [he kind of wants to apologize for the assault, but not sure if he should even bring it up]

Good idea. Tell her hi for me, okay? [ she pauses, too. she wants to tell him she doesn't blame him. things happened and it wasn't his fault. she's just more than grateful she wasn't at full power or the whole ship would have died. ]

[the whole ship would've DEFINITELY died if Peter had his powers. He was corrupted and trying to turn on the Gravity Core, after all. Maybe it's better to just leave things unsaid]

[ the gravity core activating would've been one of the only things that could actually kill fully-powered ashley. she's glad nothing of the sort happened. ]

[ probably would be and that's about as much as she's willing to go into it at the moment. ]
