12 DNA Strands - Eva

[After talking to Stephanie, Evan has been keeping himself busy, trying to find Supergirl. He knew she was likely gone for good, but he didn't want to believe it. He's combed every inch of what's left of the Lewis and Clark, the town, the woods, and even a mile or two out into the Dead Zone, and hasn't found anything. That why he's sitting on the roof tonight, clad in a fancy new suit of armor (though he asked the castle for a G on the abdomen, instead of the A pictured), and he's got his guitars surrounding him, as he plays a tune over the journal, before speaking.]

I...didn't know her as well as I would've liked, and...I'm sure it's obvious to everyone who knew her, but...Kara Zor-El....Supergirl....has gone home.

[Following that, Evan's just gonna sit on the roof, his legs dangling over the edge, as he watches over the grounds and the town in the distance, lost in thought.]

[Evan may be joined after a little while by robot clad in scarf and sunglasses. Blues will take a seat down alongside Evan, though he'll keep quiet. He was probably the first to notice Kara was gone, her room had been right across from his after all and it's not like he went far from it after what happened on the Event Horizon.

She was the first person he could actually call a friend. He missed her, but would probably never say anything about it. He was just too used to being alone, with her gone it just made it seem like it was only a matter of time before anyone he knew would disappear, or that he'd go back to where he came from and well... that would be the end of it.]

[If Blues looks close, he might notice that Evan's been crying, and trying very hard to hide that fact. Though he hadn't known her well, Kara had meant a lot to Evan, if for no other reason than setting the bar for Evan, for what a Superhero should be.]

You...[He hiccups.] You knew her, didn't you? Kara, I mean. You were one of her friends.

[He notices, but he wont say anything about it. Crying is actually something he is fully capable of, and he's done it before. Not that he'd say anything about that either.]

I did. You did too.

[He still wasn't comfortable calling someone a friend, but she was.]

I...I did. Kara was...she was everything I hope I can be someday. She was a real hero.

[He can't, and won't talk about the crush he had on her, only because he can barely even admit it to himself, and now that she was gone, what was the point?]

Hm. Then keep striving to be like that, it's a good way to remember her.

Yeah, I will. That's why I had the castle make me this new armor. It's a lot like my old armor, but it helps me control the powers I've got, instead of amplifying them beyond my control. Watch this...

[He concentrated on his gloved hand, which morphs into something similar to Blues' own Buster Cannon, though clad in Evan's blue, gray, and white, with a blue cable leading from the cannon, to his back.]

Using this, I can focus my ability to project energy into something a little easier to aim than just sticking my hands out and hoping for the best.

[He manages a weak smile.]

[There's the faintest of smiles at that. It looks like Evan has the right idea.]

Hm. To better work with what you have, that's a good way to go about it. You're on the right track.

[He shrugs.]

Well, I'll admit, I was inspired by that armor I was wearing when I came here...and my cousin Jono back home. He's got a special coat he wears, that keeps his powers from going all over the place, and focuses them so he can use 'em better. It just doesn't make sense to amplify my powers, when I have trouble controlling 'em as they are. I figure this way, I can use both my shapeshifting and my energy powers in more creative ways.

[He shifts his cannon-arm back to normal, before shapeshifting it into a shield of sorts, with his hand and arm forming sort of the "spine" of the shield, enabling it to bend and flex as much as his arms can.]

Amplifying what you can't control would just be dangerous. You've taken a safer more effective route and maybe it'll help you control them better without the armor some day. It makes sense.

[His eyes widen, he hadn't thought of that!]

Wow, you're right! God, I never even thought of that! Maybe what I should do is make a training program to push my powers to the limit while I wear my armor, and then do it again without? See if I can do as much controlling my powers the old-fashioned way, as I can when I'm controlling them artificially.

It's worth a shot. Even if it doesn't work, the worst that happens is that you know your own limitations.

Heh, yeah. I just need to make sure I do it in the Danger Room or someplace like that. Don't wanna destroy anything important by accident, heh.

I'm sure everyone would appreciate that.

I've heard of the "Danger Room," can't say I've ever been there myself.

Oh, it's great! Parts of the walls can slide back to reveal like laser guns and spinning blades, pitfalls and stuff like that, but then there's also the holograms, which can be programmed to be pretty much anyone you want, and the Danger Room'll recreate their abilities and strengths based on the information you feed it.

I've...actually been thinking about cross-training against my ancestor, see how I stack up. I know my powers aren't probably even a tenth of what his are yet, but I wanna try.

Interesting. [He can't say he knows any with any particular abilities he'd want to train against. Training in general may just put too much strain on his core.]

May not be a bad idea. The program may come up with even more variations of how to use your abilities that you didn't think of.

Aw man I'm sorry.

[He doesn't usually go for the touchy feely sensitive crap, but he likes Evan...He helped drag Gary's fat ass to the clinic on arrival after all.]

I'm....I'll be okay. Kara's where she needs to be. I guess that's what's important, right?

Yeah I guess.

As long as she's got something good to get back to of course.

Yeah. I don't know what her world's like, so I can't even guess.

All I can do now is try to live up to her example.

Was she...like you at all?

You know with the whole superpowers thing.

Heh, yeah. Kara was an alien though, I guess. I didn't really get to ask her about it much, but she mentioned it.

You don't say...

And you saw her as a sort of role model?

Kinda, yeah. Kara was a super hero in the world she comes from. A pretty well-known one, the way she talked about it. If I can be half the hero she is, I'll be in good shape!

Well for what it's worth you're a good kid.

I'm sure she'd be proud of you.

Not...not as much as I'd wanted but...Kara was someone special. She was a real superhero. The kind everyone looks up to, you know?

Then.. hopefully she's going back to her world to do some pretty great things.

I hope so too. I'm gonna try and take her place around here as best I can.
