What?! I don't really have time for this. [She's trying to mask the annoyance in her voice. If this is someone's idea of a joke, they should know that she doesn't have time to go along with it -- she has things to do.]

I am a mystery author. Quite famous back where I come from, though not many people here have heard of me.

I might have, assuming we came from the same place -- which, I can already tell, is an unsafe assumption to make in this place. I spent most of my time in Los Angeles, so I could have seen them around in bookstores, or read some even.

The quickest explanation is a kidnapping of sorts - except that you've been brought to a place between life and death, somewhere outside the home you knew.

Is it good or evil here?

There are ways to ensure that other can't read your words - but a second book for those notes would be the safer choice.

I just had people and work back home. Spending my time in a weird purgatory place isn't all that productive to those things.

[James had been walking by the ballroom door on one of his routine sweeps of the castle when he hears the voice. Why look, the castle's decided to pull in yet another unwilling participant in this demented comedy.

He stops, turning on his heel. He casually pushes the door fully open, a small smile on his face.]

You won't find a way back to where you were if that's what you're searching for. I've yet to find one, myself.

So, that's a "no" for the 'is this a joke?' question I had. [That's just awesome.] How long have you been stuck here and searching for a way back out? It would seem there's a way out since there's obviously a way in.

I arrived approximately two months ago. If everyone else in this glorified madhouse is to be believed the explanation is "magic." I seem to be one of the few remaining skeptics in that regard.

Magic isn't something that exists where I'm from, so that makes two of us skeptics here, at least. I'd rather find some logical explanation behind it, even if I have to stretch to find one. Maybe we're all crazy. Two months of being here though, that's ... a while.

Needless to say it doesn't exist in my world, either. It has been a while, yes. Although I've spoken to others who have been here years.
