[Katniss is sitting on the floor of her cabin, looking a large, and badly drawn, map of the area. She is frowning as she marks all the spots she knows near the Castle and in the town itself, and what few areas she knows in the Dead Zone. After she's done with this careful marking, she turns to the journal.]

Does it disturb anyone else that we don't have any real clue what is outside of our borders? I mean - at least I don't know. It's all some sort of ... land-blob, where our enemies live and wait to destroy us. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not comfortable with that. I want to know where they are - because they know where we are.

[She looked at the map, and scowled.] Mostly, I'd just love an accurate map of this place. So we could know where we can start protecting our borders.

[Katniss flipped to the page, before her eyebrows raised together.]

Huh ... so where are our enemies on this map? And do we have any larger copies? Like, I could put it on my wall?

[He'll mark a point at Terre Haute] They had a base camp here, but those bug guys destroyed it, so I guess they've scattered now. There's nothing left in that place but debris. [And dead people in their graves, but not mentioning that part, nope]

I don't know, I didn't grab the thing. My guess would be to ask York. York's our Map Guy.

[Katniss sat up further and let out a string of curses that would have made even Haymitch's eyes pop open in surprise.]

You mean - they were right outside that damned bug ship?! [And she hadn't even noticed. She'd gone straight into the ship.] Did anyone take note of where they went? Do we have any spies there?

Were I able to travel in the Dead Zone, I would be able to plot an accurate digital map of the area, which I could reproduce on the Castle's computer network, or on paper. Unfortunately, I do not believe there is a way to provide the electrical energy I require to continue functioning.

Unfortunately, no. As I understand the Dead Zone, superhuman abilities, and electrical devices that lack a compatible power source cease functioning once one enters. I require a great deal of energy to function at the level required for scouting and reconnaissance, and do not believe there is a power source large enough, that is able to function in the Dead Zone. If I am mistaken, it has not been indicated to me.

I'm not entirely sure, honestly. But I am starting to think if we have a map - maybe we should start securing our borders. We know the First Gens are out there, and we know they are coming for us.
