19 | In Which Howl Delivers a (Belated) Message [Dictated]

It's come to my attention that I've been a bit remiss in passing on news of Clow's unfortunate demise. I thought he'd be back with the rest, and didn't see much point in making a fuss of it. Unfortunately, he's stubbornly insisted on staying dead for much longer than is really necessary. I've taken the liberty of relocating his body to his own room... it should keep for awhile longer, though if he lets it drag on too long, I've half a mind to bury him out of spite.

[No, he totally doesn't care, or anything. Totally not.]



That aside, how has everyone fared with their brief flirtations with parenthood? Glad to see the little joys gone? I can't pretend I'm not glad I was spared the castle's generosity, myself. Too much bother, really. I suppose some must enjoy it, though.

Oh, yes. They have quite the talent for that. I suppose it comes with having no other defensive mechanisms what-so-ever.

They're tolerable enough when they're quiet - less so when they aren't.

Did you have a peaceful week while everyone else was suffering?

For the most part, yes. Hard to avoid the chaos completely, of course. I take it you were counted amongst the afflicted?

Well, of course. It would hardly do to be convenient.

Not too traumatized by castle's antics, I hope.

I'm not sure infants understand convenience, unfortunately.

'Perplexed' is the more accurate word.

Ah, but there's always the possibility that they do, and like being contrary. [Although he's joking now. Mostly.]

Mm. Well, I'd say you 'get used to it' but I still find myself occasionally baffled.

That's an affliction of which far older men are certainly capable. I could believe its existence from birth. [As is he.]

It's a baffling place, but I'd rather bafflement to lives and sanity in danger. Being saddled with someone else's child seems like a paltry loss in comparison to the one before it.

Ah, yes. [He was trying to forget that whole mess...] It's not usually that... vindictive.

I should hate to see what else it comes up with if it were.

Of course. The only way to counter something like that would be with utter absurdity.

Oh, no. I know a very good stasis spell... he'll be fine for now. should he decline to return to the land of the living by the time that wears off, well.. I don't think there will be much point in keeping him around, to be perfectly honest.
