[She hears the explosion from miles away. She can feel the ground trembling beneath her, appalled that such an atrocity has been committed. Even the night elf in front of slows her riding speed, ears perked in curiosity.
Vereesa feels her stomach drop. Without even casting a glance behind her, she has a horrible feeling of what has happened. A part of her has been ripped from her very being; something essential to her core. As her steed comes to a halt, she feels herself slumping over and unable to keep herself steady. Only her trembling hands that barely hold onto the reigns keep her from toppling over and falling from her mount.
Shandris Feathermoon is at her side immediately as Vereesa breaks into loud, broken sobs. She still hasn't looked behind her because she already knows what is behind her. It is the same vision that haunts her dreams and reminds her of what she has lost. Even as she sleeps, she is aware that she is dreaming, yet she cannot pull herself from this nightmare.
"Theramore," Shandris says solemnly. She can barely hear the horrified gasps of the other sentinels over the sounds of her cries. Her sorrow soon mixes with rage, and she breaks herself from the night elf's hold to let out a cry of anger.]
[There is a loud, angry and yet sorrowful cry that can be heard from the journal. The sound of her own voice rips Vereesa from her sleep and she sits upright in her bed, a cold sweat upon her brow and chest. It takes her a moment to gather herself and catch her breath. She wipes tears from her eyes and inhales slow, soothing breaths.
As she reaches for a candle at her nightstand, her fingers touch upon the pages of the journal that lays open at her bedside. That damned journal is open again, and she knows her cry was heard by all.
In frustration, she grabs it and throws the book across the room. Even after hitting the wall, it still falls open to the same page, recording her every movement.]
Damned book.
(ooc: for the curious who wish to reply, she'll eventually reply after a little while ic-ly.)

Galadriel
Vereesa; sorry for how slow I've been!
Gladdymama ALSO I'M SORRY TOO do you still want to continue this?
I will backtag with you into the sunset!
[And sure enough, when Vereesa gets there, her door will be cracked open, the warm glow of candlelight filtering out into the hallway.]
yeee
Thank you. [She says it softly, in a voice only elven ears could hear.]

No thanks are necessary. I have had my share of nightmares. [Dreams and not-quite-dreams- a side effect of having seen horrors that were and seeing some that might yet be.]

I only wish that is all that it was. [Her voice is heavy, eyes downcast.]

[She knows better than to push when it would be painful and when it would do no good.]

But for how long can she keep this up? How long would she bottle everything up inside of her before she drove herself mad?]
Have you been told of the wars of my world?

My world is divided primarily between two opposing factions. I of the Alliance, and my sister of the Horde. [When she says the word, it's as if there is venom in her tone, but not for her sister. Only the Horde.] Countless lives have been lost in this constant battle between forces, some tragically and needlessly, others more justified in nature.

[There's a large lump in her throat that she tries to swallow.]
Unfortunately, this did not sit well with the Horde. We held a sea port city south of their biggest capital, and when we learned that the Horde sought to attack it, we sent some of our finest Alliance commanders to aid the city. My husband and I were among those, I bringing my rangers and he bringing his mages.
[The words begin to spill a bit quicker now, losing context. The pain in her voice returns and begins to escalate.]
We had our victory. The Horde had fought, but we resisted and they had eventually pulled back. We had assumed we had won. I left with Shandris to pursue that traitor and left my husband there. I didn't know. None of us knew.
