[ She turns the journal in her hands this way and that; it's a curious thing, this book of sorcery, how the first page is blank but the other pages are filled with handwriting, scrawls of many different shapes and sizes...and sounds. She can hear others' voices speaking, directly through the pages.

When Daenerys herself finally speaks, it is with a confident tone and as clear as the ringing of a bell, belying her trepidation underneath. ]

If anyone can hear me, I wish to know whether there are those who know of the cities of Slaver's Bay, in Essos. [ A slight pause. ] They lie north of the Gulf of Grief, and southwest of the Dothraki Great Grass Sea. In particular, I wish to know if anyone else from those cities has arrived here, as I have. This castle is lovely, but I am not familiar with it.

[ And then, something else occurs to her. ] ...And if this is Westeros, I will speak to the lord or sovereign of this castle, at once.

[ There is a snort and an animal-like exhale, in the background; Drogon, one of her three dragons, is at her side snuffling at the pages. ]

[ It couldn't be… Arya stares at her own, stricken. The voice, the places. She left. She left and she didn't—

Arya filters just to be perfectly sure. ]

[ She freezes, and beside her Drogon emits a nervous screech. ]

[ She doesn't remember and Arya feels stupid. Of course, she doesn't. She didn't know the place, but she will remember a little girl? ]

I—recognized you.

[ The noise bears little concern to Robb, but the words do. It drags him from his broodings to the journal, Grey Wind padding to his side. ]

This is not Westeros, my lady. [ She cannot see the furrow in his brow, her words bring some confusion as well as concern. Slaver's Bay, Essos, the Gulf of Grief, and Dothraki Great Grass Sea. Who is she? ] Nor is it Essos.

[ His speech reminds her slightly of Ser Jorah's, her Bear's. (My exiled Bear, she reminds herself, bitterly.) ]

...But you know of those lands, Essos and Westeros? They do not sound strange on your tongue.

Aye, I do. I am of Westeros.

I fear this land is far from any you are like to know. [Her voice is as it always is when greeting newcomers, soft, understanding, patient. It's a frightening thing to arrive here, even for those who do not show it.]

[ The voice is gentle and almost motherly, and Daenerys instinctively warms to it. ]

Have you heard of others, from the places I mentioned?

[It's been a while, but Clementine recognizes that voice. Confident, but not too scary. She's never spoken to anyone that's left and returned before, so she sounds a little hesitant.]

[ His words don't faze her; if there is indeed sorcery at work here that's taken her from her home, she would actually be surprised to see someone who knows of her homeland here. ]
