Team Tembo: Day one

[By now you should have already woken up to your surroundings. Your camp is in the jungle, surrounded by tents, vehicles and cages full of dinosaurs. Wander around, check out the armoury, wonder why there are a bunch of dinosaurs in cages, or get yourself a tent]

Wait...so there's dinosaurs in Paradisa?! I really need to go on more expeditions, heh.

[Evan plucks up his bravery, and dares touch one, smiling at the rough, pebbled texture of the dinosaur's hide under his hands.]

Yeah. I mean...dinosaurs are cool, but if they exist, they oughtta be left alone, if you ask me.

I think that's what they were. I heard the term "terror birds" thrown around in regards to them.

[Oh wow, you're way too brave Evan. Jane's not even going to get that close.]

Left alone and far away from people who could get hurt if they took the wrong step.

Heh, I wouldn't be surprised. Thing is, dinosaurs or not, they're still just animals, you know? It isn't their fault that they're big and leathery and stuff. There's a reason that dinosaurs and mankind didn't ever share space in history.

[Being raised on a farm had instilled in Evan the belief that animals, by and large, were innocent, and needed to be respected for their place in the natural order of things. There might be a slight smile on his face, as he continues to pet the big leathery cow.]

[Jane grew up in the suburbs with a very troublesome, space-manipulating cat. She's not extremely keen on animals, but she's more than happy to give them their space.]

And that reason is exactly why it is so very, very foolish to put them in cages.

Yeah, I've gotta agree. Trouble is...if we let 'em out, they could get spooked. Ever been caught in a stampede before? You get a herd of animals all headin' in the same direction, with a mind to get away from something, and they don't think too much about whatever's standing in their way.

[It was a stampede of a herd of cows that introduced Evan to some of the more extreme aspects of his powers, so he knows of what he speaks.]

I mean...don't get me wrong, I think it's wrong to keep 'em penned up like this, but the alternative ain't much better.

No, I've never been caught in a stampede. [That would change later of course.] So what would the best way to let them out? One at a time and very gently, right?

It's no fun, trust me.

[He thinks on this a moment, rubbing his chin.]

Yeah, one at a time for sure, and if we can find a parent and it's calf, it's best to let them out together. And we shouldn't try to like.....push them in any direction, but just sorta like...herd them away from the camp.

And what's a good way to herd something, exactly?
