[Things are far from calm today. At the break of morning, the camp is in utter chaos. Someone has let the dinosaurs escape, and giant herbivores are charging around the camp in sheer panic. The cage the baby Rex was in is open, the infant mysteriously missing. It seems Tembo hasn't returned from his hunting trip yet, better do something about these dinosaurs]

[How much they hate each other's guts? Pass.

Sherlock leads on in silence. Occasionally he'll stop for no apparent reason, looking critically about the jungle around them, but he always continues on with the same confident steps as before.

At least they've got some peace and quiet.]

[ensorceler]

[ For a good hour, almost! Maybe even a little longer. But after that long Anne has to grab onto a tree to keep from outright collapsing, sliding down so she can sit. Her leg is screaming. ]

I must rest.

[workaphilic]

You-- [His expression twists unhappily, and he obviously has to bite back his complaints. He glares at a tree.]

Fine.

[He moves to sit against another tree, lays his rifle across his lap just in case, and stares at her while he waits.]

[ensorceler]

[ Wow, no pressure or anything, right?

Anne just ignores him, taking this time to catch her breath and try to pin her braid back up into a bun. She feels absolutely disgusting and sticky, but she still won't do more than unzip the hoodie. Anne would check her leg but she feels far too self-conscious with him staring (rather different from her confrontational nature every other time), so instead she just stares at something else. ]

[Sherlock sighs loudly.]

Really?

[ensorceler]

[ Well, that gets a glare. ]

Are you in such a hurry to be lost? I cannot believe you know where you are even heading.

[workaphilic]

I know exactly where I'm going.

[ensorceler]

And where is that?

[workaphilic]

Where else? The other camp.

[He says it like it's the most obvious thing in the world. Like there have been signposts with approximate 'kilometers until' scattered around the tree branches.

Maybe if he knew there were T-Rexes wrecking it, he'd be less eager to go, but. C'est la vie.]

[ensorceler]

[ Yeah, she thinks he's full of shit. But she's lost either way, so she might as well have someone else with a gun around. Assuming he doesn't get fed up and abandon her. ]

I will not even waste my time asking how you know, but I am moving as quickly as I am able.

[workaphilic]

[That's good, because he can't actually say how he knows. Comes with the territory.]

You'll move faster if you give it the attention it needs. [He indicates her leg with the barrel of his rifle.]

There is naught I can do for it here.

[workaphilic]

[Sherlock shrugs. There might be, but he's not the combat medic in his partnership. He's not going to insist beyond that either way.]

I'm not going to carry you across the island. You're going to have to find some way to make up for it.

[ensorceler]

You speak as if I am truly any safer with you, in any case.

[workaphilic]

[A scoff.]

You are if the alternative is hobbling around by yourself.

The only thing you have to fear from me is abandonment, and don't assume that just because I haven't done it yet means I won't.

[ensorceler]

Is it any wonder you are not always surrounded by loyal friends and allies? Such charm and honor.

[workaphilic]

I'd say I've afforded you more than your fair share of both, under the circumstances.

[ensorceler]

You never once offered me a lick of respect, dared not even give me a chance though I offered you a second, and you would lie to my face to claim otherwise.

[workaphilic]

[He smiles, if something that aggressive can be called a smile.]

Exactly. More than your fair share.

[ensorceler]

[ It wounds her, and that makes her angry, to feel so affected by a stupid man who has never meant more to her than a pebble in her shoe. But rather than snap at him or shoot his damn leg like he deserves and like she might have once done, now it only makes Anne curl further on herself, looking away and doing her best to keep her expression as unaffected as possible. ]

Then leave, if I have earned such scorn. I care not to keep such company, no matter the circumstance.

[workaphilic]

[He watches her closely, and silently, for a long moment.

Then, flatly:]

No.

[ensorceler]

[ Again she nearly snaps, but reins it in, lips pursed tightly together as she stares dully at a bush. Well, there are a lot of them. ]

To ridicule me further? Must you only do the opposite of what I wish?

Only if your wishes are always that stupid. I'm not in the habit of leaving people to die. I'm told it's bad form.

[ensorceler]

I have a gun, and I know how to make use of it. I do not need you.
