RACE TO THE BOAT

[After that message it's time to pack up and get the heck out of dodge. Both teams have a short trek across dinosaur infested territory to get to the docks, where the cruise ship is waiting to whisk them away. There are a ange of hervibores, and whatever surviving raptors better them and it.

The remaining adult T-Rex seems mysteriously absent throughout all of this, as is Tembo. Weird]

[Lara reloads quickly, firing at whatever dinosaur that's coming at them]

[Lara made sure the area is clear of predators. She took her climbing axe help loosen up the tree roots Church's foot is stuck on, using it as a lever]

Ha! Finally, let's get the hell out of here!

[She hears raptors closing in...]

Go! I'll follow!

[Church pauses for a moment...]

[Unfortunately for them it's never the raptors you hear that are the problem.]

[Lara followed Church as soon as he made a break for it. She's got a feeling he's not a quality team mate]

[Hey, he's not armed. He thinks she's kind of dumb to tell the guy in crazy futuristic armor to run ahead and not offer him a gun to help out with.]

Holy Crap!

[One thing raptors excel at is herding their prey into ambushes. It's a good thing for Lara that Church is in front. A raptor explodes out of the undergrowth and takes Church down with the squeal of teeth and claws on metal.]

I wish they'd stop doing that...

[Lara fired couple of shotgun blasts from her underslung shotgun just to get rid of the raptor on Church]

[The raptors scatter at least temporarily. They can wait to try again and this time they know who to attack.]

You're welcome! Now go! And take this with you. [Lara throws Church one of her USP handguns, with a full magazine. She watches the rear and waits for Church to advance so she could go along]

[Lara followed Church while continuously shifting her attention to the rear and the flanks. She pretty much learned how raptors attack by now]

How much further is it?

[It feels good to have a gun in his hands, even if he's total shit with them. Still, she'd never know that unless he actually tried to shoot anything.]

Not very far. You should be able to see the docks just over that little hill.

Ah ha... about fuckin' time!

[He looks back to make sure she's clear before heading down toward the boat. He's not leaving her to fend for herself, there could be more of those raptor things.]

[Guess what, they were just jumped by three raptors right before hitting the docks! One jumped at Church's flank, while two attacked from the rear where Lara was. But it was timed at the second when she wasn't looking]

Shit!

[Lara open-fired]

[Church shoots at the ones attacking Lara. Managing to wing one of them.]

Look out!

[Lara managed to kill one of the raptors that attacked from behind despite being knocked down and sustaining scratch wounds on her arm, while Church managed to bring down the other. The third raptor leaped at the armored man unchallenged, trying to bite his helmet off, but it was too strong.]

[Church gets knocked to the ground by the weight and force of the raptor attack. Thankfully it can't bite through the helmet, but the teeth scrape and scratch against it. Claws look to find weak points in the armor or pry off the plates themselves.]

Ah! Son of a Bitch!

[Lara got up and saw the raptor trying to bite Church's helmet off. She struggled to raise her arm, but she managed to shoot the raptor in the head. The gunshot didn't do the trick and her pistol was out of ammunition. The act only made the raptor shriek in anger.

Clenching her teeth, she grabbed the climbing axe. It was her last resort weapon in case the fight got too close and she was out of ammunition, and before the raptor could retaliate, she swung the axe and drove the sharp metal point in the gunshot wound on the raptor's head. It squirmed and swing it's claws wildly at Lara, giving her more scratch wounds.

When the raptor took it's last breath, she heard more approaching. These things won't give up... But the docks is close now. She tried to help Church up, leaving her axe and gun behind so they could make it to the ship]

Don't fuckin' worry about me.

[Church will wave her away. Christ she's getting torn up out here. They have to make it to the docks. He gets up and looks at the path they have to take. He's figuring out how these raptors act, there is less chance of an ambush on the ocean side of the path.]

Stick to the ocean side.

[He's going to keep himself between her and the thicker part of the jungle. He's built for this sort of thing. While a good kick from a raptor in the right place could puncture his armor and get to the electronics of his robot body... it isn't going to kill him. At least as far as he knows.]

Alright.

[Lara nods and tried to stick near the water and ran with Church... It looks like they finally lost them. Lara looked behind her to see the remaining raptors fall back...]

There's the docks. Thank god.
