Sixty Seventh Sip
[Maladict had assumed Nikola had been on the cruise ship, while she was on the dinosaur island. Probably getting drunk off his stupid face on copious amounts of wine, so she had not allowed herself to worry about him. When she couldn't find him on the ship when they were rescued, a small sliver of it had appeared.
She'd remained in her hotel room for the remainder of that time, the worry only growing with each passing hour. She had no real desire to check out more Earth culture, Paradisa was already saturated with it as it was. She didn't need any more of it. Besides, she should be in one place, just in case. But the just in case never came. So, when she finally slept alone and woke up back in the castle alone she knew something was very, very wrong.
She stars at the empty spot on the bed for a moment, before getting up, getting dressed, delaying the inevitable. Eventually though, she opens the door to their room. Where there were two names, there was no only one. She swears in Borograian, slamming a fist through the wall. She fucking hates this place. She hates it so much. How DARE it make her feel safe to care about someone only to take them away. She leaves then, knowing she can't remain in the castle right now, casting a furtive glance to the door across the hall. It goes to show how much she cares about them that she bothers to leave the filter at all]
[James and Ashley]
Nikola's gone. [She writes those two words, not trusting her voice, just staring at them for a moment. She's not going to reply to them, she knows she can't She can't deal with their coddling, their concern. She needs to go somewhere she can be left to deal with this her way. And there's only one person, one place she knows she can get that]
[She just lets herself into the cabin, regardless of if Brock is home or not. She heads right to the kitchen to make a coffee and hopefully curl up and hate everything for a while. Don't mind her, Brock]

Maladict
Hey, if you... y'know... want to go punch something, my head's all fine and dandy. Self-healing. Won't even bruise. I'll even bring you coffee.

Cabin filter whoa
He watches her in the kitchen for a second, waiting for her to say something, and then decides that's up to him.]
So... hey...?
forever and everrr
Hey.

Brock is terrible as shit with all things emotional, so have some more awkward silence while he tries to work out what to say here, screwing his eyes up at the ceiling.]
Did, uh... something happen, or...?

[She's finally deigns to drink her coffee. Or rather down the thing as if it were a shot. That done, she finally looks his way. She seems to be wavering somewhere between extreme anger and wanting to curl up in a corner and feel nothing for a while]
Nikola's gone. The castle sent him back.

Not that Brock is Tesla's greatest fan or anything -- it's pretty much the opposite, really. But that's not really important right now; this dumb lady vampire is like his best friend, so that takes top priority over anything else.
Brock frowns, running his hand down his cheek.]
Well, shit, Mal. Is there anything you need me to do?
[Like... does she need to be chained up with garlic or something, how far away from a rampage is she...]

Can I stay here for a while? I can't face the others and their coddling right now. I need to deal with it my own way.

Brock nods, gesturing widely to indicate she can make herself at home.] Go ahead.

...Thanks.
[Yep, that sure is gratitude, she can't be feeling good]

Brock stands there a little awkwardly, wondering if he should do... anything. Ugh. He's growing more concerned by the second with how she's acting, but she said she doesn't want coddling right now. Not that he even knows how to coddle.]
Yeah. Listen, if you need me for anything, I'll be outside. Just take it easy.
[The unspoken part of that being that if she starts to not take it easy... she should come find him and he'll do what he can.]

You'll be the first one to know.

[His mouth twitches a bit like he's about to say something else, but instead he just frowns and nods, then turns to go out back and do some work outside.
He kind of figured Maladict wasn't the type to want to talk out her feelings (which is maybe why they got along so well), but still. Sometimes he wished he knew how to deal with this kind of stuff better. It's tough to see somebody you care about like that.]

Fuck this place, seriously]
