028 Summons ❈ Dictated ❈ Backdated to the Morning of July 3rd

[Good morning, fellow Paradisans! This morning, you will be treated to several questioning sounds along with many "huhs?" and "whats?" as Sheena looks through the journal while sitting on her bed. Both of which increasing in number and slightly in volume until she finally starts speaking in complete sentences.

Slightly confused, but complete sentences.]

Uh, is everyone all right? I mean, did anything weird happen last night?

[She's under the impression some suffered a strange loss making them think it was different days--while others slept through the night. Still, just to be sure...]

And this is gonna sound like a strange question, but could someone tell me what the date is?

[ooc: Apologies for the delay in posting (RL kicked my butt!), but here she is, waking up on July 3ed and thinking it's June 1st--as well that the castle suffered some strange loss over the past several hours! She has no clue she had been a Daruma Doll, so if anyone wants to tell her--go for it!]

[There's a slight pause here, before gently] I never knew you liked kids so much.

That was her?! I danced with a queen?! [Retro embarrassment in full swing here.] I had no idea! [There's a silence on her end as she digests this. Wow. So not what she had expected.

Her tone, when she replies, shows no embarrassment, only gentle happiness.]

Yeah! I do. I really enjoy playing with them--like hide-n-seek!

You did, and now you know. FYI, she likes being called your highness. [Not that he ever does, but details]

[Aww, that's sweet]

Well, I'm sure you'd be welcome staff there, once it's finished.

"Your highness." Got it. [She's still in shock, so she's just saying this in a bit of a daze. Usually, she's not comfortable around people of a higher station, but...] She was just so friendly and easy to talk with...

[And now he knows her terrible, terrible secret...:)]

Thanks, Once-ler; I appreciate that! [She pauses a moment.] Are there any games on your world that the kids might want to try?

You sound surprised by that. A good queen is good to people, right?

I don't know, I never really played with other kids when I was one. You'd have to ask Ted. [And that's all he'll say on that matter, sure not going to dwell on his desperately lonely childhood right now, nope]

[She shakes her head.]

I'm not surprised by how good she is, but by how friendly. I'm not used to royalty that'll dance with someone out of the blue. [Her tone is one of awe and happiness at the memory.]

Oh. Okay. [He doesn't have to worry; she's not going to ask because she understands.

Then a pause and an unsure-sounding Sheena.]

Hey, Once-ler?

[That's never a good sound, and his own tone has worry creeping in]

...Yeah?

[She switches to a filter because of certain ears. And hopefully, she'll ease his worry with her question.]

Ummm, this may be a touchy subject, and you don't have to answer if you don't want to, but...

What happened with the dinosaurs?

[Her tone is one of worry--not over him not answering, but that something terrible had happened to him, too.]

I don't really know all the ins and outs. I was on a cruise ship circling the island when it all went down. They had a lot of close calls, that's about as much as I know.

[She sighs in agreement.]

Yeah, that's what I've been told. Some of them too close.

I'm glad you weren't hurt as well Once-ler.

[A pause.]

But, a cruise ship? I thought you didn't like water? [Yep. Still totally concerned here.]

I don't like water, but I like water better than I do getting chased down by giant prehistoric lizards.

[She's quiet a moment, and if he knows her well enough, he may be able to picture her opening and closing her mouth several times before finally speaking.]

Yeah... That definitely sounds like a better alternative.

And those ships are kinda big, aren't they? Big enough that you don't see the water and can be safe, right?

My room had a nice no-water view once I covered up the porthole.

Oh yeah. I kinda forgot about the portholes.

[She pauses, hoping that he can answer her next question in the positive.]

Was Ted with you?

[He's silent for a while]

No. He almost got killed a few times.

[That scares him more than anything else. That Ted was at risk and he could do nothing to help]

[No...don't be silent, Once-ler, that's a bad sign...

Damn.]

Oh, damn. Where is he now? Is he all right?

[A beat. She knows how much Ted means this man.]

And are you okay?

It was weeks ago, he's fine. He got out of everything unharmed, the kids got a lot of luck on his side.

[He lets out a soft exhale, this is clearly something he doesn't want to talk about] Yeah. I'm fine.

[Weeks ago? Damn, that's right!]

I'm glad to hear he's okay.

[She knows that kind of exhale, and for a moment, she considers asking him to talk about it, but... no.]

Okay.

[So, a topic change. Hope he doesn't mind.]

Hey, uh, Once-ler, another question. You said people were making a big deal about it being the Fourth, right? Any idea why?

It's some kind of Earth holiday. I don't know a lot about it.

[You can hear a pin drop--for about a nano-second.]

Another holiday? Just how many holidays does that place have?!

Way more than one planet probably should have.

[She's silent a moment.]

Hey! I was here last year, but I don't remember it being observed. Is it an occasional thing?

[That would explain why it seems like Earth has so many holidays.]

[She's got a bad feeling about those things thanks to last year.]

The sparklers are nice, but I just hope they don't set them off too close to buildings...
