One Mistake
[Ben hasn't heard yet that the roof is the prime spot for brooding. Even with brooding a stable part of his usual state of being, he hasn't headed up here to do that. He's been the lookout for the group for so long, it's almost automatic for him to seek a high spot and keep an eye on things whenever they got down time, which was rarer and rarer before he arrived here.
Still, things ARE quiet here, as he watches the expanse of the castle grounds and below stretched out before him. It's an uneasy feeling. What are you supposed to do when you're finally able to stop running? When you get to a place where the things that chase you can no longer follow. He hasn't worked that much out, yet.
He flicks through his journal, watching words scribble themselves onto the pages, listening to the voices of the castle residents going about their day. It's a weird contraption, but it's not that different than the iPad he had before everything happened. Where was that thing even now? Probably back in his room in Stone Mountain, where his mom made him leave it behind before he left for Macon. He shakes his head, shooing away those thoughts of home as he finally dictates into the journal]
So, I know this place is filled with people from all kinds of worlds which still sounds pretty freaky, but fine, so I was wondering what was with the light show last night? Does this place have an independence day, too? Or was it just super random? I saw a bunch of townspeople setting fireworks off, and if they're not even from Earth...well, I just thought it was pretty weird, is all.

[various exploding noises and siren imitations abound as he's making his way upstairs. you haven't just pinged a favorite topic or anything, Ben. he shows up shortly with a can of pizza Pringles and a six pack of cherry Pepsi in hand.... And then realizes he probably should have asked if he wanted the company. Cue one awkward grin.]

What are you doing on the roof all alone up here?

I just wanted to see the view from the roof! I've never been this high up before...

Oh, you know, it just likes to add fun little twists in. Poisoning the chocolates it gives us on Valentine's Day to make people do things like flirt with or kiss the next person they see, or even serenade them... and then on Christmas it likes to enchant certain objects to make people kiss one another.

Yeah, I can get that. It's really weird, isn't it? Seeing life just go on as normal for some people. Where it never happened for them.
[How are you supposed to do normal any more?]
