3rd Violent Outburst - dictated Texas....Agent Texas
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT?
Ok, so I leave that big party last night and I know, I know I wasn't drunk but I wake up today in a tux. How the hell does a tux even fit over my armor? I I don't know just what the hell this is but-
[There's a pause, s oft rustling of soft cloth and the theme song from James Bond movies plays for a single verse. Oh yeah, the classic theme, all brass.]
THAT?! Every so often I just stop, fix these stupid cuffs look to the side and this music plays. What the HELL is going on?

But hey, a Tux... you got lucky.
no subject
Why...what did you get?

no subject
no subject
Because that's the only reason I know about what's going on... reading the journal... other people having that problem and not me.
[Oh fuck it! He's just going to shut up now. The last thing he needs is her finding him dressed up like Sunny.]
no subject
Out with it, what are you? Tell me or I come over there, take a picture and find a way to make sure everyone sees it.
no subject
Fine.
[Filtered to Tex]
I'm.... Sunny.
no subject
[Filter]
[There is a moment of nothing but laughter, serious deep and rolling laughter.]
Ok. I have to see this, I'm coming over.
no subject
[Shit, she's probably already on her way too.]
Stay the fuck out!
no subject
[And she's making it double time on the way to his room]
no subject
The door is locked and I'll be pissed as hell if you break it down!
no subject
Then I suggest you unlock the door, I lack York's subtle abilities so I'll just kick it in.
no subject
no subject
Come on...open up.
no subject
Hurry up before anyone sees you... or more importantly me.
no subject
Fuck, here we go again. She did the bond routine and the music played. Talk about taking all the steam out of a really good jab. Whens he could move again she sighed and shook her head.] Fucking hate this place.
no subject
Welcome to the club. Meetings are Wednesdays and Saturdays at noon.
[Oh and give him back his facial hair!
One good thing about these castle wide things, at least he knew he wasn't suffering alone.]
no subject
Be sure and save me a seat then.
[She did move forward, her memories didn't include him with a bare face and the look was startling to her. He looked young, even with his brooding scowl. Her fingers flexed and nearly moved toward him but after last time she kept them in check.]
Still could have been a lot worse.
no subject
I look like a fucking cupie doll.
[Yeah, he wouldn't respond any differently than last time. Which would probably just lead to another argument.]
You didn't end up too bad. Kinda' butch but it works.
What's up with music and the cufflinks though?
no subject
You do. Man if the Bloodgulch boys could see you now....
[The laughter, the insults. It keeps her at a safe semi comfortable distance. It's what she needs right now, probably what he needs too. And the costume doesn't hurt, he's not so like himself that it is distracting anymore. Fuck, if he knew that was distracting just how much would the bastard gloat?]
Butch? I'm in a suit of powered battle armor with a tuxedo on top of it. It's a friggin joke is what it is!
Fuck if I know. It just does that. I'm guess it's some stupid inside joke the castle hasn't seen fit to let me in on.
So...uhh..[She moved to look out a window or at something on the wall or whatever to make this look and sound as casual as possible..she failed miserably.] What's it like? Having that body?
no subject
[oh there would definitely be some gloating. Cracks in the tough 'Rotten Freelancer Bitch' facade, so worth a good gloat.
He chuckled.]
Well, at least it's not a frilly dress or something.
[Right. Well, it was bound to come up sooner or later.]
Oh, well... it took a little getting used to. Still has some lag issues once in a while... It's good though.
I mean there are things I still can't do, obviously... but it's much closer to feeling real.
no subject
Yeah no, you in a dress? Just no.
[She listened, head canting a bit in the imitation of human movement. She rifled a bit through his things as he spoke.]
You can feel things? More than just registering sensory input like the suits?
no subject
[He doesn't keep much at the castle these days. Not even his sniper rifle is here. He has some clothes, the books Lemony wrote about Sunny and her siblings, the tools he's been using to fix up his old body and that's pretty much it.
He's glad his mementos from the 'baby week' are back at Stark Tower. He has enough to deal with right now without explaining that too.]
Mostly... it's still sensory input but it's not as isolated.
I don't have a thermometer displaying the exact temperature on my HUD. Instead I get temperature readouts from sensors in my skin. So I can touch something and tell if it's hot or cold. I also get a pressure reading but it's a lot more refined. I can tell texture more than just 'smooth' or 'rough'.
When you add it all up, it's a lot closer to actually feeling something.
It's still not quite the same as actually feeling something though.
[He shrugged]
If you don't think about it too hard it's pretty damn close.
no subject
[She'd been keeping her back to him mostly through out, but that just.. well she had to turn at that.]
So it's a lot like being human.
[She nodded but, the expressions. Jesus she knew those. It was what her mind had filled in when she could only see a helmet.]
You look just like you used to. I mean you look ok. [The shrug came after, and she played it off with a little attitude as if it was no big deal.]
So you do a lot?
no subject
[He suppresses a smile, the corner of mouth fighting the urge to rise.]
Harper let me choose what I looked like, so naturally... I'm glad I got me right.
[He moves to sit on the bed, leaving the chair for her. Even though he knows that technically neither of them needs to sit.]
Not really. I used to go out and help with one of the outposts, but things got... busy.
I haven't had the time to get back out there.
no subject
Tex moved and took a seat in the chair.]
You could do without the curl though, and without facial hair you kinda look twelve. [She laughed softly] Forgot what a baby face you have under the scruff.
So, this girl Katniss and I were talking about setting up a perimeter around the outskirts. Just something to give us fair warning if whatever is out there decides to come in here.
no subject
[He rubs at his chin absentmindedly for a second, stupid castle.]
That's a pretty huge perimeter. The border of the powered zone is like a hundred miles out from here... and we can't exactly get a sat nav system going.
Not that it's not worth looking into. Relying on news from the journals isn't the best option.
[He looks thoughtful for a moment, churning the idea over. He might be a generally poor soldier, but he's pretty good at thinking tactically.]
Shit, have I given you the map the infodump about this place yet?
no subject
[Back to her suit without the tux. That would be something wouldn't it?]
I was thinking of putting trackers out there, just small ones, the kind that could run on battery power and that would be enough of an early warning just in case something went on out there.
No, Delta was going to but... things got fucked.
no subject
[He picks up his journal and a pen and jots a quick filter to her with the page numbers for the map and Felix's report.]
There, now you can check them out when you have some time. Keep an eye out for posts from a guy named Felix, he's a good source of information. Just remember when you share that information with others that you filter it away from First Gens and other assholes that would misuse it.
[Church is pretty proud of the fact that his grousing about people not sharing information has gotten results. More and more new arrivals are actually getting access to information it took him months of searching to acquire.]
We'd need someone to design and build them. Delta could work up a layout for their placement. You know, maximize the area covered with the fewest units. Oh, that's another thing I should get you... Delta came up with a coordinates system for the map so we can use our trackers for navigation out there.
[Hey guess who finally learned he has a god damned motion tracker!]
no subject
[She'd scan the information in later and store it, convert to a digital mapping system, maybe improve things if she could.]
I did think about asking for [yeah, and this was just in keeping with her.] help.
no subject
No one knows for sure how many are left... there was a ship crash out in the Dead Lands and it wiped out their settlement. Or a settlement anyway. The survivors weren't keen on sharing info.
ugh, which reminds me of more stuff I've got on my 'to-do' list that I haven't been making any progress on.
[He sighs and goes to run a hand through his hair, but there isn't any hair there. Instead he has to settle with a sigh of frustration and rolling his eyes.]
I'm sure you can get a bunch of people interested in helping. The other Freelancers and the Spartans easily. I wonder how much fuel there is left for the Falcon...
[It felt good to have something solid to work on and plan around again. Running through what she/they needed to accomplish and what resources they had to do it with. He hadn't had much in the way of mental stimulation since the gulch, mostly just coasting along vaguely bored. He'd tried a couple of times to find things since getting here, but his focus had been hard to keep. He could focus on helping Tex though, that was something he could always focus on.]
no subject
What are you working on? [Because that is as close to an offer to help as he's going to get straight up.]
[She paused and looked at him, really looked.] Fuck me. When did you go and become a leader?
[Better be careful Church, that sounds almost as if it's hinting that maybe Tex being there gives your life some kind of purpose.]
no subject
There are these crystals that can supply a tiny amount of power, York compared it to a AA battery. He said you can string a bunch of them together to get more power but no one has very many of them.
In the report I sent you they talk about some guys that called themselves the 'iron suits' or something like that. They had working battle armor.
Which means they had a way to power it. There might be a way to get larger crystals and make it safe for us to enter the Dead Zone. York has a lead on someone we could get a message out to about it.
And the settlement that got hit out in the Dead Zone looks like it belonged to those Iron assholes.
[He looked back at her somewhere between amused and insulted.]
Hey, I've always been a leader!
[Hush you, that's totally not it at all.]
no subject
But it's something to look into, maybe Katniss can check it out a little.
[She snorted at that.]
Oh sure you have.
[Sure Church, keep telling yourself that, also keep telling yourself you're not glad she's here.]
no subject
[He just sucks at being personable enough to get a message together. He's probably written a hundred cast aside letters by this point.]
Hey, I was the guy in charge back at Blood Gulch... or had you forgotten?
[He will... even though he knows he's stupidly happy that she's here.]
no subject
[Really Church?] Not like you had a choice out there, not exactly working with a fucking brain trust there. You were the least bad of the options.
[She only digs at you because she cares, not that she'd tell you that of course.]
no subject

Is this too late?
Bad idea maybe, but Dairine can't help but crack up. There’s a whump as she falls in an ungraceful heap of laughter, an embarrassment to the elf whose clothes she's sharing. Give her a moment and she might explain what’s so funny.
Maybe.]
Never!
no subject
She tries to get a few words out.]
That song is... [Nope, can't do it. She starts laughing again.]
no subject
Seriously..what the fuck?
[Not cool man, so not cool.}
no subject
The laughter finally peters out, but Dairine still sounds amused.]
You really don't know what that song is?
no subject
no subject
It's the James Bond theme!
