I have found myself in the most curious sort of predicament. One moment, I was dead and the next, I am standing in the middle of what I can only describe as a room with a remarkable view. To further complicate matters, I have located this device which is all too foreign to me. Thankfully, I am in full possession of my wits - which are substantial - and I was able to turn it on.

[He pauses to let his words sink in before continuing, his tone as light and unassuming as ever:]

My name is Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, though that is rather much to remember. There was a time that I simply responded to Albus, so I think that shall do for the present time.

What I seek are answers and I will patiently await them until either they drift my way or I discover them on my own.

You are quite welcome, Dumbledore. I feel people get a jarring enough experience waking up in a strange place, they do not need someone being harsh with them on top of it.

You are quite correct in that assumption. I have dealt with far worse situations, I fear. I hope I am not forced to repeat them here.

Alas... I cannot promise you that. The Castle has a playful side, yes, but... it can be very, very dark as well. You will face nightmares here, of that I assure you.

Then I ask that you continue to recall my positive traits should you see one of my nightmares, Ashura.

At least we are not subject to each other's, most times, or the nightmare is shared by many. But I could not hold it against you, Dumbledore. I think some would cast me aside if they saw mine, too.

In its own way, that is comforting. [There are so many events he doesn't want to share.] I appreciate your kindness. I find that there are people who have no desire to remain true after they know the truth.

I understand. We do our best to accept, but it is hard sometimes. The Castle does not make it easier at times. Hopefully you have come at a lull, though, and will have time to adjust before you are set to a trial.

I do not wish to burden anyone with my memories. [Yes, they are that bad.] I am prepared regardless. There is little use in pretending all is well.

True, and I hope your first introduction to the darker side is a gentle one.

But, enough of dark things. There are happier occurrences here too.

Such as? I would like to hear far more about them.

We have festivals sometimes, or get to visit new worlds because the Castle changes itself. We have access to books and tales from any number of cultures, and many people here organize events.

I see that the positive attributes outweigh the negative. [That is a relief.] I am most interested in the books and tales.

All are located in the library, which is in and of itself a very lovely structure. It is one of my favorite places in the Castle.

Then I expect we will see one another there often.

I suspect we might, yes. I admit, I am a bit hard to miss.

As am I! A wonderful trait, wouldn't you say?

For those of us who enjoy it, yes.

I cannot imagine why someone wouldn't enjoy it.

Some people are not meant for such attention, I fear.

While it is true there are those who are happy living humble lives that acquire little to no notice, I am of the belief that everyone has a talent or two that should be noticed.

Oh, I did not say they did not, only they might not wish to have themselves noticed, is all. It is to much for some, others enjoy it, and others have such things thrust upon them by accident of birth or fate.

You sound as if you are familiar with that subject if you don't mind me saying so.

Well, my situation was one of birth, I suppose. Lucky for me, I never minded it.

Responsibilities that begin so early are weighty indeed.

Indeed, they are. I suppose that's why I like the library.
