Flight 002 ~ [Action/Dictated]
[Clearing his throat, John opens his journal as he sits on a couch in the lobby]
This is Captain John Ge... [He stops.] Sorry. Force of habit.
So, all the stars are different here. That's really hitting home how far away from my roots I am.
[A pause] Where I'm from, we look to the living stars for guidance. Our Ancestors are with them, and we can always count on them being there for us.
It makes me sorta uneasy. Anyone know of a way of coping with stuff like this?
[Another throat clearing, his voice professional.]
If anyone could give me some advice, I'll be in the lobby, or over the journal.
To the honour of our Ancestors,
Geary out.
[Because that was one habit that wasn't going, no matter where he was.]
((OOC: Fully open.))

I'm not exactly sure what you believe in but--
Think of it this way. Just because the stars [ and the scenery, and just about everything they knew ] have changed, doesn't mean the gods--or your ancestors-- are any less close. They will still watch over and guide us.
[[ OOC: I know we didn't finish our other thread yet but I felt this was something that would really strike a chord with Kara :) ]]
And ever~
[Geary takes a few minutes to think this through.]
You're right, I guess. It's just...
[Another pause] That's the worst thing about this for me. Those stars... We were always told that they'd be with us.
sorry i somehow missed this!
[ A brief pause. ]
Right now our faith is all we really have.

[A pause] The stars where I'm from were like friends. Always there.

But they were always there, looking down on us. Always the same.

The stars are also of great significance to my people. To seem them so changed here- an alteration of what has been a constant for all my long life- it was disturbing.
Yet I think- [And this is where, while seating herself on a couch, she catches sight of his face for the first time. While she knows it isn't Boromir, the sight still catches her off-guard and she falters for a moment, her gaze linger just a tad longer than is polite.]
Forgive me. You bear a great resemblance to another I know.

[He seems a bit taken aback. Still, she doesn't look as though she's from his world...]
...Sorry, being recognised was something I was hoping to avoid here.
[The ears give it away.]

You would do well to refrain from announcing yourself by name, then. It seems a habit quite counter to your goals.
no subject
Trust me, it's a habit I want rid of as soon as possible.

I gather you have not been here long, then.

[He pauses, not really sure if handshakes were the norm about here.]
I'm Captain Geary. John's my first name, as you've probably heard.

Well met, Captain Geary. [And since he introduced himself with a title, she will do the same.] I am the Lady Galadriel.
no subject
We don't have many people with "lady" as a title where I'm from. [Mostly musing to himself.] It's nice to meet you, though.
no subject
The title is of little consequence. [She waves her hand dismissively...but the way she carries herself suggests that, little consequence or not, she still demands a certain amount of respect.] I hold no more authority here than you.
no subject
Something's been bothering him, though.]
Uh, forgive me for asking, but... You're not human, are you?

[He's used to the steel-grey of Dauntless' bulkheads, after all.]
Not even the air smells the same.

I suppose that's true. Things have to happen for a reason. [Right?]
